I live in the South Hills and have been to 4 bridal shops and have found NO-THING!
I’m running out of places to try that I “know” about. As in, someone I know recommended them or bought their dress there. I just want a place that I know is reliable and I’m not going to have to stress like mad about my dress.
I’ve looked online at a ton of places, and I always look for reviews from other customers. Unfortunately, that has not been very helpful because the reviews are always either absolutely terrible (1 star or 0 stars) or absolutely fabulous (5 stars) — for the SAME STORE! I know everybody’s opinions and experiences can be different, but how the heck do I know who I can trust?
I am willing to drive a decent distance to shop but I feel like I’m running out of options and really don’t know who is reliable and within my budget (about $1000 not including alterations).
I have been to David’s in Monroeville, MB Bride in Greensburg, Candalina’s in Swissvale, and Checker’s in Belle Vernon. Everywhere was great except that I didn’t find anything! (well, except Checkers. They kinda sucked). Sorry. lol.
I also have an upcoming appt at Carlisle’s in the Norht Hills, but their online reviews are super mixed too!
Anyone have any suggestions?

@Stace126: Not sure how far you’re willing to travel, but I live west of the city and plan to visit a few bridal shops out here. I stopped into Deborah’s Bridal Traditions in Monaca and they were very nice and helpful. I was just in there to look – I didn’t try anything on – but I took a peek around and they have nice dressing rooms. Their bridal gown selection might be a little small but I did find several dresses that I really liked there. I plan to go back and try on gowns in a few months.
There’s also Ribbon Bridal in Beaver. Haven’t been there but they carry a lot of designers that I love so I’m also going to go shopping there. Ribbon has gotten really great reviews from a lot of people I know, so I think it will be a good experience.
I hope this is helpful to you – sorry I’m so far away and can’t suggest places closer to you! Good luck with your search 🙂

Hi- I purchased my dress at Alison’s Bridal in Washington, PA. They don’t have a huge selection, but the service was good.

Try Sorrelle’s in Washingtons, PA.

I got my dress from The White Orchid (its on Rt 51 near Baldwin High School). They have lots of Casablanca and Maggie dresses.

I second the suggestion for Deborah’s in Monaca. I looked at dresses there and they were absolutely wonderful and amazingly helpful. I know several people that bought dresses there and were nothing but happy. Good luck!

If you’re up in the Monaca area, consider Mary’s Bridal in Beaver Falls. I’m considering getting my dress there (just waiting for my mom to come up). Her prices include alterations, and they have a LARGE selection of dresses.

Alfred Angelo on McKnight..my friend’s dress was from there. I’ve also heard good things about Michaels on Perry Highway.http://pittsburgh-brides.com/

Ribbon in Beaver has a great selection and excellent customer service. Please read the reviews on One Enchanted Evening in Wexford before going there…terrible, terrible, terrible.

UPDATE — I bought my dress today from Carlisle’s in the North Hills. I’ll include a pic just for the heck of it.
Thanks for all of your suggestions! Perhaps I will try them for bridesmaid dresses (or I can recommend them to my friend who is getting married after me)!
