Just wanted to add that a diamond a hair under the 1 ct mark will be significantly less expensive.  Look at .90-.97 or so if you want the look of 1 ct but not the price tag.

I never thought buying online is a good idea personally because how would you handle yourself if you (God forbid) lost the ring ? Or a diamond falls out? Do they have warranties or insurances if that sort of thing happens??? And I agree with MrsSparkkebee13 sometimes online isn’t the best thing to do. Because you don’t know what you’re buying online.

One time I bought this cute wallet case for my boring phone. And I looked at the reviews and they said it was pretty amazing. Others said the material was cheap looking. It was…it was only $7. Well anyway. When I got the case in the mail it looked nothing like how it was advertised. I mean the material WAS cheap and the print was off, lopsided….. It was just horrible… And the return policy was crazy. Like why would I spend $40 on a refund if I want my mommy back? I wasn’t going to take that chance so I lost a mere $7  and had this ugly case I didn’t want anymore. Ended up giving it to my sister. She thought it was cute. Whatever haha.

Just watg what you buy it can be a scam. Spending more than $1000 is a big deal. Even 200 is a lot for an online item!!! I say go for the store instead. I know they hatch on an extra $1000 but….better safe than sorry??

And if you were to return it online if you don’t like the ring then you’re going to have to wait three weeks for a reply ….the whole process could take months.

DH’s friend bought a 1 ctw halo from a jeweler that was a a family friend of his wife and paid $3500.  It’s sparkly, gorgeous and of great quality.  I’m not sure what the same ring would look like at a $1500 price point especially assuming they were given a deal.  My best guess is that the center might be .5 carats.

I’d consider a simulant or some of the other Bee’s suggestions of a 2nd hand ring or a H-K color/SI from James Allen.  If I had to compromise, I’d compromise on color/eye clean SI vs the sparkle factor.  Choosing a cut other than RB might cut the cost a bit too.
