I’m pretty sure this question has been discussed before but I couldn’t find the thread. I was just wondering, for buying dresses/accessories/wedding related items from a site such as the WB classifieds, oncewed.com etc; what are best practices for making sure it’s legit? Even though I see really good deals in classifieds for things I might like, I’m scared to buy as I’ve seen some posts here about people getting scammed. I know on eBay and etsy there are reviews, but what about other sites where you’re just dealing with an individual who’s *supposedly* selling their own used stuff? If you send money thru PayPal or escrow.com but the promised item never arrives, what do you do??

I think you are protected to some degree. If what you buy never shows up or if what you’re buying is not what you thought it was or is not what the seller represented it to be, you can file a claim.
I’ve bought several things – taken huge chances and I’ve never been scammed. I ask for detailed, up close photos of items. If the seller is the least bit hesitant then I pass it up and go on to something else. If the seller is honest and on the up and up, they’ll bend over backwards to make a sell.
Ask the seller if they do have an ebay or etsy account. I’ve found a few of them are claiming to selling their stuff from their weddings but then found out that they are actually honest business owners.
I’ve bought my garters, toasting flutes, a couple of veils (I can’t make up my mind what I want to wear!), chargers….and it goes on and on.
Take a chance – I’ve gotten great deals!
