I thought I would just post a little count down of excitement! <3
For me it still seems surreal and far off… Im sure at the one year mark reality will seep in more! I have not planned much- only booked a venue and created a room block.
Summer 13 I think I will start dress shopping, looking for vendors:florist, photographers, DJ etc.
What have you June ’14 ladies planned so far?!

We booked our photographer and had our engagement shoot (: we also finished our favours (well mostly, we’re also doing rock candy but have to wait to buy that closer to the date) and our bags for what people are going to toss once we’re married (little oat packages that say ‘oat to joy’ on them). We bought our guestbook and some other little things. We haven’t done too much, but now that we’re at the 18 month mark we’re trying to take advantage of this extra time. Before there were lots of vendors who wouldn’t book us because it was too far in advance.

That is great that you are getting so much out of the way ahead of time! Rock candy sounds yummy! I really like that tossing oat idea. Its very different yet simple and sweet.
The 18 month mark for whatever reason makes it feel more real! We just booked our officiant. I notice that we can bargin a lot more with prices because vendors know you have so much time to look elsewhere.

@SparkleBee11: Yeah, it definitely feels way more real! For me, I think maybe because it’s more the length of a ‘traditional’ engagement, as opposed to 2.5 years which made it seem like the wedding was all just ‘talk’. Now we can get going on more stuff without feeling like we’re doing it too far in advance or like we’ll change our minds. I’m also excited about getting better deals on things because of the time advantage (: That was one of our major reasons for having a long engagement!
Do you have any favourite dresses in mind yet? I really have my heart set on the Maggie Sottero Isadora Marie.

My wedding date is July 3, 2014 and it does still seem far off, but much closer now that we’ve finally hit about the year and a half mark. I live in Newport, RI which is a huge wedding destination. Being from the area is bittersweet because I know the vendors well and know what I want, but I also have to get things done early so I can get them! Many venues book at least 18 months in advance. With that, I got right on booking a venue so we could have our desired date. I’ve also met with a couple of caterers and will make that decision by early March. Lastly, I unexpectedly found my dress. I’m really picky and I honestly don’t like the look of a lot of wedding dresses so I figured it would take me months to find one, however I went dress shopping for fun and fell in love. I had to order it because there was only one left before going out of style. Besides that, I’ve just been browsing pinterest and etsy for ideas and costs of things. I hope to get a lot of planning done this summer because I’m a teacher and that tends to totally take over during the school year. Hope you’re all having fun with the planning process and extra time 🙂 I think it makes it so much more enjoyable and less stressful.

@sugarpea – no dresses in mind yet. I know want something soft and romantic… something with soft lace- with a touch of a vintage feel
That dress is lovely!
@runnergirl47 – yay on finding the dress! That is such a big step and something fun that really doesnt matter how early you get it! Time definitely makes it more enjoyable! Im in graduate school and its very intense! Summer I have less course work so I will be able to do much more planning!
The one thing I would LOVE to plan now is a honeymoon! But no one books this far in advance!

Hi ladies! I’m definitely stoked that I can say the wedding is “next year”! Time will fly I’m sure

@mcgoo: OMG same here. saying “not next summer, but the summer after that” has really gotten old. hahaha
PS so many of us are getting married on June 14, 2014! 🙂

@sleepyhead22: great day for a wedding!

@mcgoo: Yes! I hated saying, no the following June…
I’ve sent a signed contract back to my venue with deposit.
Did a preliminary dress shop. It has not helped me narrow anything down though.
I’ve selected my bridal party- with the exception of one who is a new mommy… Letting her settle into the role before I throw it on her.
We’ve met with and selected our photographer. She is drafting up a contract and sending it to us next week! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

We’re going to look at a potential ceremony site on Tues morning.
We’ve got 1 which I love, but the only issue is that it’s run by the town council & they are super strict about set up & packing up timelines.
This place we’re looking at Tues is a lovely historical building that’s now being used as a theatre. I had it narrowed down as a place for photos, but if we could get married there – awesome! And cos it’s set up as a theatre, we don’t have to worry about chairs/packing up etc.

We booked our venue, but that is it so far. I will be dress shopping this comming summer. I really really want a blush colored dress, so I am hoping there are more options by summertime!
Other than that, it still seems really far away

I am also so excited that the date is getting closer so I can help hearing ‘why are you waiting so long’ and ‘oh, 2014, that’s nice’… We have also booked our church, venue, and room block… Other than that not much — have seen a band we may use perform live and are researching a photographer so we can get engagement pictures taken 🙂

6/14/14 love it!!!! Can’t wait…I’m getting so excited, I know it still feels like a zillion days away, but when I think about the fact that I got engaged ONE YEAR ago as of this February, it reminds how friggin fast a year FLYS!
