(Closed) Ontario Bees – can my friend officiate my wedding?

DH looked into this for a friend, and I think the answer is yes, but there is leg work involved that takes over a year. What DH found out was that you have to join the Humanist Organization or something like that, and you have to attend a certain number of meetings in a year, then you’re allowed to perform marriage ceremonies. I found some info here. The key point is that you have to be a member for at least a year.

Can my best friend conduct my ceremony?

Yes under certain conditions. We believe we are the only wedding ceremony service that allows a friend or relative to conduct your wedding ceremony. We do this by having one of our licenced officiants on site then later they register your wedding with the Government. The process begins when you contact us. Our regular fee applies.

We didn’t do this, but we did use this company and our experience was great. I hope this helps!

just get married at the justice of peace, then have your friend do the “wedding” your already married so no signing or nothingjust ceremony
