We went to Cleveland’s House up in Muskoka for a weekend and it was awesome! Sort of like the lodge in Dirty Dancing ๐Ÿ™‚  Anywhere in Muskoka is gorgeous though. If you’re foodies at all, there’s a Muskoka culinary trail now where you can go to different farms and restaurants. I bet you could find some great B&Bs and book a whole week going through little towns, etc.

Hmmm there’s also an eco lodge called Elk Lake that I’ve been dying to go to, but it’s waaaaaaaay up north. Another hour or two from that there’s a place where you can swim in a pool divided by glass with polar bears on the other side! NUTS! (Bees, do not read that we have polar bears everywhere!)

You can’t go wrong with Montreal of course. We stayed at the Place D’Armes in the old quarter and it was gorgeous (and a splurge) just be specific about having a room on the other side of the hotel from the bar. They don’t tell you it’s one of the city’s hottest night spots and that your room will vibrate all night. On the other hand, insist on an upgraded room if said vibrating room does happen, their two storey suites are gorgeous ๐Ÿ˜‰

Darling Husband and I really enjoyed Trois Rivieres in Quebec. It’s a little place but I thought it was so pretty and sweet. You’d have to have a decent base of French language skills to get by there, it’s really not very english friendly (from our experience anyways). But in any case, we stopped there for a night on our way through to the East coast and I thought the place was really charming.

If you’re festival/event type people, I’ve found Festivals and Events Ontario to be a great resource for what’s going on in the province. Darling Husband and I have been known to spend a couple hours driving to get to an ice cream festival ๐Ÿ˜‰

There is a place just outside Algonquin Park called the Couple’s Resort (I think). We are planning to go there one day. It’s a little expensive, but if you love the outdoors this place looks gorgeous!

@kelmac: Good thought! Killarney Lodge is also really nice, very quiet, but on the pricey side as well. I went there years ago in my early teens with my parents and had a great time. I remember them having good food ๐Ÿ™‚

A friend of mine did Couple’s Resort in Algonquin and loved it! I know nothing more than that, but she had an amazing time!

We had out honeymoon in quebec. Actually took the train. It was fun. My husband likes pubs and beers, but I do not so we didn’t really know what to do at nighttime. We did some tours, and walked all around. Nice place. Let me know if you have any questions!

OH my gosh you HAVE to go to Montreal in July! They have an annual Festival of Laughs and it is the most fun!  We stayed at the Taj Mahal and while it wasn’t the fanciest hotel, the price and location were excellent for getting everywhere!

Otherwise, maybe Niagara on the Lake?
