So, in typical me fashion, I’m late. With a lot of things. One of which is the music for the ceremony. I was just wondering if some bees had suggestions in terms of temp/etc. and could maybe give me some thoughts on the skeleton I have so far. I’m having a wedding at a barn that I’d describe as being classy country, lots of carriages and lace and pretty elegant things. That being said, I’m willing to deviate and not just have country music to go with the venue.
I’d like to use the following song (although I’m not a big fan of Twilight) for our signing. Flightless Bird, American Mouth as covered by the Vitamin String Quartet.
Fiance and I kind of struggled in terms of a first dance song. I’m a huge music lover, I have all sorts of songs that mean a lot to me, especially when applied to our relationship. He, on the other hand, is a radio man and scarely finds songs connect with him on the same level I do. There’s only two songs he’s ever associated with our relationship, and that’s Drops of Jupiter (and he can’t explain why, he just told me one day and I was like oh, alright) and Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. We’re also very private individuals, and so for us we’re really not into too mushy ‘LAY YOU DOWN AND MAKE SWEET LOOOOVE TO YOOOOU FOREVERRRR WITH ALL MY TEARSSSS MY LOVERRRRR’ songs.
Recently I stumbled on the new single from Coldplay, Magic, and I reeeeeeally like it. It’s got a bit of a beat, but I really like the simplicity of it and the sentiment of not wanting anybody else and just the simple awe at the magic of being beside the person you care for. And asking if after all this time the person still believes in magic, and they do, just so sweet. I’m well aware this relates to Chris Martin’s recent divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow but I don’t personally have a problem with that, songs are what they are to the people who listen.
We also have fireworks going off at some point during our first dance, and so as it gets a little more loud and guitar-y I think it might be fun if the fireworks were going off during that. Otherwise, maybe I can find a cover of it that’s quieter?
As for my walk down the aisle, I’m debating. I’d love to walk down to Han Solo And The Princess as covered by the Vitamin String Quartet, and edited down to have only the cute romantical parts versus the more ominous parts of the score. The first Star Wars movie I ever watched was Empire Strikes Back, off an old TV recording of my dad’s, and I’d say as a kid I wanted to marry Han Solo more than any man ever.
However, my father made a suggestion that I thought was really sweet. He’s a big, manly looking guy who is actually a big softie, and he suggested I walk down the aisle to either Liz On Top Of The World, Dawn or Mrs. Darcy from the Pride and Prejudice film with Keira Knightly.
As for my bridesmaids, I’m literally at a total loss as to what they’ll walk down to. No ideas.

I feel like I’m totally lacking direction here 🙁 I have honestly no idea where to start.
