We are getting married in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico this November. I am making Out of Town bags for the guests & would like to include a “hangover kit” with individual packets of OTC medicines (aspirin, motrin, pepto bismal, etc.). I’ll be making around 30 bags so I would have about 150 packets of medicine. I want to know if I would be able to carry on the OTC packets with me on the plane or if I could have them shipped with the rest of the favors. I tried finding info on Mexican customs but have hit a dead end- Help!!

I’m a MX bride in October 🙂
Here is what I found out about customs: If you’re bringing more than 15 of the same item, you may be asked to pay a tax on them. Also, some info said that individual/small packs of meds is okay, just not large bulk containers… but I also read a travel site that said you could only bring in a “reasonable” amount. Sometimes, however, customs can tell that you’re traveling for a wedding and will let you pass with a little over 15 (as they did to a friend of mine)
You could also purchase them there. I’m not sure about your town, but we’re going to Cabo and are planning to go to Costco one day and pick up stuff like that.
I was thinking about shipping some things as well, but just decided against it. I’m going to split up all of our decor/favor items that we’re bringing amongst my family & friends so that no one has more than 15 of anything!

Okay, I just checked the customs info sent to me by the shipping broker I was going to use. It just says “medicine for personal use”. I’ll PM you with the rest of the rules. It’s long…
