I am treating my Out of Town bags as the favors. But, it’s a destination event, so my main reason is that nobody wants to carry anything else home with them.

I’m not having favors, so my Out of Town bags will be what they get. = )

They are not necessarily the favors since not everyone attending will be staying at a hotel to receive an Out of Town bag.  That said, favors are not a must-have so if you dont have it in your budget you dont need to do them.  Most people probably wouldnt even miss them.

I think of Out of Town bags being special welcomes for people from out of town (hence the name). Not a huge portion of people at my wedding are Out of Town enough to be staying at a hotel, but I still want them to have favors. I feel like it would be rude to only give favors to people I hadn’t given Out of Town bags to, since Out of Town bags will be in the hotel rooms and favors will be on the reception tables. Thats just how I see things working at my wedding. If you had a destination wedding, Out of Town bags would be great favors. And like naangel said, favors aren’t essential.

hmm i really dont think Out of Town bags = favors unless its a destination wedding where every guest receives them. So I agree with StarShine on that accord

That being said – favors aren’t really necessary if you cater to the guests (i.e. a decent meal and open bar)

I have to agree with starshine & gabgal, unless each guest is getting an Out of Town bag, favors should still be included.  That would be a little awkward for the Out of Town guest to sit down at a table with a favor at each place setting, but not at theirs.

Well first off, favors are not necessary. If they’re edible people will definitely appreciate them more. Little knick knacks for sure are not necessary. Out of Town bags are also not necessary. They’re an added bonus. People will understand if you’re budget is tight. Especially if only a few people are coming in from out of town. Most of my half of the guest list is travelling in so I’ll be doing Out of Town bags but I’m not sure about favors. You are paying for their food and fun for the night.
