Hi Bees,
I need advice. My Future Mother-In-Law wants to throw me a bridal shower, which is so nice of her. However, it will be in her town (a 3 hour flight from my town). She texted me and told me she can only do it in August. Here is my issue: my stepsister’s wedding is the last weekend of July (a 3 hour flight to a different town) then my best friend’s wedding is the last weekend of August (a 4 hour flight away). That means that I would be going on 3 flights within a month of each other. I looked up flight ticket prices to attend the bridal shower and it will be over $300. Not to mention, taking a day or two off work and figuring out a way to ship gifts back to my town.
Is it rude to decline having a shower? It is very nice of her but I’m just not sure it is a good idea. My Fiance will not be able to go with me so I will be staying with my in-laws by myself and will not know a single person other than Future Mother-In-Law at the shower. It seems like a lot of money to spend for a quick trip. Not to mention I will be running like mad that month to weddings in different states.
What would you do?
