So there’s been some threads about bartenders and tipping lately and I have a question as the BRIDE not the GUEST in terms of tipping.
My venue includes catering and that includes the open bar and a day of co-ordinator.
Do I tip the bartender after the event? (even though I had no hand in hiring them what-so-ever?)
Do I tip the co-ordinator?
The venue is costing 20,000 + already….

We ended up tipping both. At first, we were just going to tip the bar tenders, but our day-of coordinator did such an amazing job, my parents ended up tipping her too.
I also think we tipped the wait staff, but I couldn’t tell you for sure – my parents handled all of that.

I’d start by reviewing the contracts because in some venues, a tip is already included. If there’s a line item for “service charge” then I’d ask the co-ordinator where that service charge ends up. If it’s paid to the servers on top of their hourly wage, no additional tip would be expected unless you get outstanding service.
Assuming there’s no contracted line item that covers the tip, I’d tip both the bartender and the coordinator.

Is there a gratuity included in your contract with the venue? If so, I wouldn’t tip on top of it. If not, definitely tip the bartender. Not sure about the coordinator, I don’ think we tipped ours because his family owns the venue and we had a wedding planner who handled most of the stuff on the day of the wedding.

If your venue is costing 20k+, I’d definitely check the contract for a “service fee” that might be included like a PP noted. Ours is also 20k+ and there’s a 15% service charge already tagged on.

@Elky: we tipped both but it was because our venue require it and took our $2k deposit as tips for servers, bartenders, the captain & sailing staff, & etc.
i was glad they took care of it for us so we didnt have to bring checks or money with us but it was kinda annoying to not have any control over the amount &/or picking who excelled & who didn’t.
