I would expect my fiance to support me in such a situation, but I am quite capable of standing up for myself both verbally and physically.

I’m not a fan of being “the little woman” and I don’t have a vast amount of respect for women who automatically assume that they can hide behind a man.

@SpecialSundae: I agree! I can take care of myself but if my Darling Husband just stood there looking the other direction I’d be a little pissed off.

im someone that is use to taking care of things myself plus i work out/can defend myself but i clearly remember 2 times my husband totally stood in front of me to be protective. once was when i walked into the middle of a fight without knowing it and they were carrying bricks & knives by the 2 groups and the 2nd time was when some drunk started yelling/being aggressive to me on a street and tried to grab me.

i still think wow, didnt know he would get physical/alpha male but he will if he has to

@.twist.: No, absolutely, I’d want him to have my back… but I’d feel cheated if I didn’t get to stand up to the person in my face.

Depends on the situation.  I hate movies where the female *needs* to be protected (think the wimpy, I’m gonna scream at everything and be helpless type role), but yet it is nice that the male would step up to protect if the situation warranted it.

If were together, then yes I would expect my man, my protector, the man I call my husband to do something about it. now that doesnt mean in every situation Id expect him to jump in and play hero- If Im alone I can take care of myself quite well- no problemo – but if were together — and someone else does say something offensive to me, i would definetly expect him to take a stand. Im his wife and if someone shows disrespect to me- Its disrepect to him..

@Mrsgurzakovic: If someone were to disrespect him, would you stand up for him?

@s.khodir: No, as I said, I’d expect him to stand up with me, but I throw a much better punch and much sharper insult than him any day.
