I don’t know what to get Darling Husband. He is a big football fan but I don’t know how much more of his team in our house I can take. Plus I have gotten something of his team every holiday since we have been together. I want this to be a total shocker. I want to spend $100. He loves football and rock music. He’s pretty boring lol

@sarahbabs:  Good idea for a thread πŸ™‚  I think I have at least ideas for just about everyone on my list, but for a budding beer snob, I’d maybe get a him an assorted 6 pack of local beer, a fancy-pants bottle opener, and maybe a tasting ticket to a local brewery.

@sarahbabs:  I did mail beer to a friend once, I packed it in newspaper, paper towels, & stuffed it into a pringles can.  I also mailed a cupcake to the same friend (in the same package) and surprisingly everything made it in one piece.  The cupcake was trickier to pack…

@sarahbabs:  Check the area where your BIL lives and see if they are having any brew fests or anything nearby this spring/summer.  Maybe you can get him a ticket.  Also, check out the http://www.craftbeer.com website.  They have books and what-not you can order or it might give you other ideas for him.  πŸ™‚

How about the in-laws?  They live in Oregon, spend a lot of time camping and fishing in their camper, have a pretty small house so they don’t really want/need more “stuff”.  A few years ago I (ahem, we) got them a couple guidebooks to hiking and fishing in their area, which they really liked.

Maybe you can get ideas from what I am doing for my family:

Dad he is the clutter bug of my family he drops everything the minute he walks in, although he would never admit it, then everything gets lost especially his ties so I am making him a tie rack with some cute saying painted on top. I am still thinking what else to make him maybe some grill stuff or a coffee package with a personalized mug using sharpies.

Inspiration:

My mom she is one of those people who is extremely hard to get gifts. She never mentions much that she wants and the things I know she wants are way out of my budget (i.e. Ipad and Burberry purfum) but I do know she spends a lot of time in her garden so I started thinking what she was missing and she has no work station so we decided to build her a potting bench.

Inspiration: Better Homes and Garden

My actual potting bench:

Sorry its dark and sideways.

My sister who is 14 she is pretty simple she loves dance and clothes so I decided to make her some one of a kind clothes using a bleach pen. I incoporated her dance groups infinity symbol in there plus I made a shirt and capri jeans.

Inspiration:

I am also making washer necklaces from pintrest and scarves for both my mom and sister.

For my Fiance he is a little more difficult. I will be doing a DEEP DEEP clean on his car because he keeps saying it needs it. I will also be getting his car windows tinted and a DVD. He LOVES to grill so I will also be making Homemade Guinness BBQ Sauce and homemade grill rubs that will put in dollar store tins. I will also be getting cheap grill tools that I personalize with wood burning into all the handles.

Inspiration:

I hope maybe this helps others get ideas on things to do if you want to do some DIY I am doing I have links to almost anything except the rubs and wood burning those are from my head.

@sarahbabs:  I saw beer cups with mustaches. You draw them on with permenant marker and bake at 300 for 30 minutes to make permenant. Then maybe a beer book like Beer: A Connoisseur’s Guide to the World’s Best. At most places ABC liquor or Walmart you can choose your own mix and match beers I would do a six pack of all different beers for like 9 bucks. That keeps you at $25.

@lolot:  How about a camping survival kit: Matches, fire starters, OFF bug spray, S’Mores packet etc.

@lolot:  I hope she likes it. We were just going to originally buy it but they wanted $200 dollars for something similar so I asked Fiance how hard it would be to make he said a few hours. We even found pallets that we recycled from a local tile and carpet store to make the shelves. The whole thing cost us about $25 including paint & stain and about 4 hours of work but it looks great and it’s probably more sturdy then the $200 dollar one at the store. I am actually pretty proud of how we had idea, to plan, to accomplish it really made us feel good. This is our first DIY Christmas so depending on how it goes will depend on if we do this again in the years to come.
