Opening gifts at a shower called a "Bridal Luncheon" if the bride is "mature"?

You seem very sweet & thoughtful. When you say “mature”, how old is that? Generational  expectations can differ. If it’s a formal luncheon, I’d likely not open gifts there. But I probably would make a point to call & thank gift givers (along with a written thank you). It also depends on the size of the party.

I wouldn’t do gifts at the luncheon unless it looks like just about everybody brought something

I was a “mature” bride and did not open gifts at my wedding (or baby) showers- I just told people that we weren’t opening gifts (unless they really wanted me to open something) and literally everyone was thrilled.  Enjoy your luncheon!

If the invites included registry information, I think it should be pretty clear to anyone attending that it’s a gift-giving event.

I actually enjoy watching the guest of honor open gifts at shower-type events.

In My Humble Opinion, you should enjoy every minute of this, no matter your age – you deserve joy! What do *you* want to do?
