I have a lump on my face that needs to be removed. At the moment it looks like my operation is going to be around the same time as my wedding so right now I’m crossing my fingers that it is going to happen afterwards but just incase it does end up being before I would also love to know what other bees would suggest to help with scarring.

@louiseW:  You should ask your surgeon about silicon patches that you apply over the scar. The compression will help alleviate redness and reduce raised edges. Don’t worry, 4 months is a lot of time to allow for healing. I would also suggest using vitamin e oil/cream religiously on the scar.

There’s also a supplement you can take called Arnica which can be taken orally or applied as a cream. It’s a herbal supplement available from pharmacies that is meant to assist with bruising, scarring and healing.

I just had a cyst removed off my upper shoulder last week (I had it removed because it would show in my wedding dress).  I know there is a cream out there that someone recommended that farmers use on cows that is suppose to be good.   I know that sounds weird, but I’ve used it before and it does work pretty well.  I’ll have to ask to remember the name.

Missbumblebee- are you thinking of Bag Balm cream? My mom used to use it and loved it! It hydrates really well and I would imagine helps heal too. My mom had severely dry skin, so that’s why she used it and it worked!

Hello there. I read this and just had to comment! I absolutely understand your concern. I actually split my face open right next to my left eye (freak accident involving tiles) just before New Years and was married a month ago. I had about 3 months to heal. It was stressful! I saw a plastic surgeon who showed me how to massage the scar after the stitches were out. I massaged the scar twice a day, mainly with rosehip oil. I also used Bio-oil, Heridoid Cream, Vitamin E and Arbonne ‘Skin conditioning oil’. Yeah I went crazy and tried EVERYTHING! (Not all a once but alternated between each over a few weeks). I’ll be honest in saying I believe the key is the massaging not so much the product. It really hurt to massage but it broke up the scar tissue.

On the wedding day make-up did a good job and  to be honest I didn’t think about it once! You can’t see the scar in many pictures. Pictures aren’t 3D. The pictures it did show in I plan to edit.

Hope this helps you a bit. Best of luck!!! You’ll look beautiful no matter what and I’m sure no-one will notice πŸ™‚

Here’s a pic of my lil bugger on the wedding day:

I had a minor surgery on my ankle 4 months ago and used cocoa butter on it which helped fade it dramatically, but there will always be a scar there…I’ve actually learned to embrace it and look at it as a part of me now…if your scar doesn’t go away completely, the best thing you can do is embrace it as another beauty mark πŸ™‚

I swear by neosporin, rubbing the scar as it’s healing to encourage blood flow, and keeping UV rays completely off the area. I’m talking wearing sunscreen and clothing over the scar, bandaged if you can.

@louiseW:  I hope it all goes well for you. I just found out my op will be about 2 weeks before the wedding. It will be done by a plastic surgeon and will be very small so hopefully it wont be too noticable. I would love to hear how your healing goes and what works for you and also what kind of make up etc you find best to cover it up. Please keep me updated. Good luck.

Best of luck! Keep us informed!

I’m actually getting my scar fixed in a few weeks. It was stitched terribly because it was an emergency.

I think yours will be fine considering it was an operation and would have ben stitched carefully.

You’ll be beautiful. πŸ™‚

If you google “bio-oil”, there are a LOT of problems with it. After a friend sent me an article I threw away my bottle and went back to liquid vitamin E oil and scar removal cream (which is essentially Vitamin E and cocoa butter). I found it worked just as well.
