I am purchasing my girls monogrammed spa wraps, and they are going to be monogrammed. I could do their 3 initials, but my question is for the single ladies… will they mind later on when they get married and potentially change their names? Should I do single letter of first name? Or spell out their whole name? Thoughts?

If anything I would go for the single letter of the first name, or maaaaybe their whole first name. Are they the sort of people that would like something monogrammed? I know that I, for one, hate monogrammed stuff and wouldn’t use it after the wedding, but that’s just me.

@missmess: thanks for your repsonse, but I’ve already decided to do a monogram… Just curious if anyone would have a preference on name vs. initials. Besides, you don’t wear this outside of your home, so even if they hate monograms (which they don’t) it’s still functional.

@hartmamp: I love monograms! Even as a (impatiently) waiting bee, I’m still getting monogrammed stuff because even if I get married in the next year or so, I’m still me now! I figure I’ll still wear my monogrammed items (specifically jewelry) after I get married anyway.

I’ve actually thought about this too. Four of my bridesmaids are single still, but two of them are in serious relationships and I’m pretty sure one is going to get engaged this year.
I’ll probably just do the first letters if I do something monogrammed. I wouldn’t want to make any assumptions about what they’re going to do with their names. I actually just read an article this morning about how more women are choosing to take their husband’s name (86% in 2011 according to NY mag). First initial avoids the problem.

I LOVE MONOGRAMS. Go for it! Some of your friends may get married and decide to keep their maiden names. In that case, their monograms will still be accurate.
Bottom line: your bridesmaids will love their gifts, and I’m sure they wouldn’t notice if you presented them with robes bearing their names or their initials.

I would do their first names instead of a monogram, i think it will look weird with that one letter lol
