When we first got engaged, I was almost sure I would get a matching pave diamond wedding band. The band would have to be custom made to match perfectly.
Due to unforseen circumstances, things are VERY tight for Darling Husband and I right now. The custom made band was out of our reach, so I felt like I would rather the band be totally different then mismatched. Additionally, Darling Husband thinks wedding bands are supposed to be “plain”.
My plain flat band arrived yesterday and while I like it, it just isn’t the diamond band 🙁 It is growing on me, but what do the bees think? Looks ok or weird? First pic is on my hand, second pic is with DH’s ring. (Please pardon my dirty e-ring!) Darling Husband says that if I really and truly don’t like it, he will figure out a way to make the diamond band happen, but I think I would feel too guilty.

I think it’s lovely and looks great with your e-ring! Down the line, you can always get a pave band for your anniversary and switch it out or wear them stacked!

I personally like it. But if you don’t, you can always save up and add the diamond band later – for an anniversary, the birth of a child, or just because. : )

I’m having the same issue!!! I also have a gemstone e-ring, so it didn’t have a matching wedding band as most in-store diamond e-rings do. It has been nearly impossible to find a band that has the same size diamonds where the diamonds are equally spaced, and where the band sits at the right height, and goes the right distance around. The pave on my e-ring band goes 2/3 of the way around the band, and anything I find that remotely matches in size and spacing usually ends, visibly, on the top of the ring, so you can see where my e-ring continues with diamonds and the band stops.
I started looking into custom bands, but they’re turning out to be almost 3X what he paid for my e-ring!!!!!! I absolutely refuse to pay that much. I may have to go the plain gold route myself.
I say, wear it around the house and see if it grows on you. Take another picture of it on your hand when you’re all dressed up and feeling good about yourself–in a pretty setting. Post it here and let me know, because I’m legit super curious about how you feel about it.
Here’s a pic of my ring:

I think it looks beautiful! It gives attention to both rings as should be!

After thinking about this more, I think that it isn’t so much that I don’t like it per se, it just wasn’t what I had imagined. And, different isn’t bad, it’s just different 🙂
@MissIcecream: You’re right, I think I will wear it around the house a little to get used to it.

If you cannot afford the diamond band now maybe get it as an anniversary gift on your one year? 🙂 I think they look lovely together, btw. But a diamond band would look great, too!

maybe you don’t have the right plain band? yours looks like it’s lower profile than your e-ring band. if you find one that is thicker (“taller”) then maybe you will like it better?
I think if you need to keep looking to find the right kind of plain band, then you will really like it. there are so many varieties you can find online, with different thicknesses and shapes.
like PPs say, you can always upgrade in the future. that gives you something to look forward to! and having a plain band is always nice for sports, camping, “dirty jobs”, etc.

The problem is the profile of my e-ring changes as it goes around (see the pictures from the side). It is higher at the top. So, the current band matches at the bottom and sides, bit not as it gets wider. Also, the actual width of my finger changes, which seems to make the sides look weird. It was hard enough to find a thin flat plain women’s band, but maybe it is back to the drawing board.
Or maybe Dear Fiance will get me the fancy one for an anniversary present one day, while I made do with this one.
