Sooo my SO may decide to go with something completely different and surprise me, but my mother offered us her engagement ring. My parents are going on 30 years now, and got married when, like us, they were pretty poor. My dad scrimped and saved for a year to buy this green tourmaline diamond-wreath ring, and I have always thought it was gorgeous.
When my grandma died, my mom inherited a 3ct old mine cut diamond solitaire, and hasn’t worn this ring since the 90’s. I think it’s really pretty, but I’m wondering what other peoples’ opinions are? Obviously it’ll have to be resized, and someday I’d love to: replace the center stone with a diamond and make a pendant for my mom out of the tourmaline.
Opinions on the ring, anyone?

I think the ring is lovely! There are a lot of women on here that have colored gemstone rings!

That is gorgeous! It’s unique and it means something to your family. If you love it, go for it! I love that ring a lot.

OMG I think it is spectacular… I say USE IT…. and that is means something to you I’m sure maes it all the more special.
I have a Emerald as my center stone in a custom design which is VERY unique design too… Ifind that because it is NOT the norm so to speak that people ask me about it more and it gives me the opportunity to tell them the story behind it…:)

I think the ring is so lovely. It also has some some history and significance, so persponally I would never plan on switching out the stone. I would keep it just the way it is…
I think you should proudly wear the tourmaline on your right hand and let your SO get you a proper engagement ring when you both are ready.

I think the ring is beautiful, but it depends what you want. I always knew I wanted a diamond e-ring, so while that ring is gorgeous, I would probably wear it as a RHR. If you don’t care whether you wear a diamond or colored gemstone, then go for it.
