So, I’m probably just being paranoid…but I have to ask your opinion on my baby’s 13 week ultrasound. I opted out of the NT scan. I went for a regular check up at my ob/gyn office and they couldn’t find the heartbeat with the doppler, so they wheeled in an older u/s machine. At the time I didn’t notice anything, and was thrilled that we got another picture of our bean! 🙂 After I got home and looked closer at the picture, it looks like the top of the baby’s head is cut off. Do you see what I’m talking about? Is it just from movement? I don’t want to call the office and ask this question and look like a jerk! Thanks for your thoughts and opinions. 🙂

I think it’s just the position of the baby. I think your baby has a full head (if there was something concerning, I’m sure your doctor would have said something)

I’m not an expert but no I don’t think the baby’s head is cut off. Plus I think the office would have been able to tell that. I think it’s just based on movement. At my last ultrasound at 28 weeks there were moments when they moved the wand around and things “disappeared” I think that’s normal.

You probably just have a squirmy baby! And ultrasounds aren’t really a “picture” but rely on something like sonar (from my limited scientific understanding) so when a baby moves it can really affect the picture you see. Don’t panic, I am confident your doctor or tech would have said something if something was wrong.

@pittgirl4: if there was something wrong they would have told you. (especially something as obvious as baby missing half it’s head!) You have nothing to worry about.

Lol, I am ridiculous! My husband was saying the same thing as you ladies….I feel better now though, thanks for the reassurance.

I am a x-ray tech… not ultrasound… but I do work with ultrasound machines and have an understanding for it. I can tell you 100% that is just the way the baby is positioned in your belly when they scanned you and took that picture! Nothing to worry about! Sometimes it helps to call your doctors office anyways just to give you def peace of mind, but there is nothing to be worried about!! Beautiful baby pic!
