(Closed) Opinion request – Rope favor

posted 8 years ago in Favors
  • poll: Our rope favors should be

    50ft long

    100ft long

scrapped! That's a bad favor idea.

combined with another more traditional favor - like a cookie (or other, suggested in comments).

I love that last post with the picture of the favor tied *with* rope. That’s what I would do with it.

@peachacid:  Seriously- you don’t want to get stuck like Sam Gamgee wishing you had remembered rope.

OP I think it’s a cute idea, especially since it’s relevant to the family.

Could you do bracelets for the women and rope for the guys?  I also think that rope would make a really great belt.

@asianbarbie:  +1 on the monkey’s fist knots. They look infinite, so you could do a play on tying the knot/forever.  ETA: I mean for the knots to be the favor, not as a prop. It’s a cute thing to have around the house but isn’t necesarily masculine or feminine. I actually have a bronze monkey’s fist knot that I made in art class, and everyone is fascinated by it- nice conversation piece

sorry OP, but never ever in a million years would I have use for 50 feet of rope, and if I did I wouldn’t want to ruin/dirty a favor from my friend’s wedding.

I would love having some rope! Super useful to have around for just about anything! I also love those place card holders.

My opinion was sort of the “…Rope? What is someone going to want with rope?” But then I asked Fiance if, as a guest at a wedding, he got some high-quality rope would he take it or subtly leave it under the table– and he said he would “take the rope and any extras!” So I think the half-bracelet/half-rope idea is a good one. This may just be one of those things that’s really split along gender lines.

I’d love the bracelet. Especially if it had an anchor charm!

I think this is straight up awesome! I don’t use much rope so I voted 50ft and even then was like wow-50ft is a whole lot of rope. I know you’ve decided already to go with bracelets or rope and I just wanted to let you know that I think it’s a spectacular idea. If I went to a wedding where that was a favor I’d love the bracelet and Fiance would think it was the greatest favor ever. He’d be all about the 100ft rope. And he’d try to talk me out of a bracelet and into more rope!

I would do just the bracelets! I think the picture you posted is fairly gender-neutral, so guys and girls could wear them. I asked my Fiance what he would think of getting rope as a wedding favor, and he just said “whaaat? why??” but then again he is not all that handy…haha

I think thats a really cool idea, and super useful! We gave the glasses people used at the reception as favours, there were a lot thet people didn”t take home and you would probably have the same thing happen, but it would definitely make your wedding memorable! I did say 50 feet though, because any longer than that oculd get pretty bulky and awkward at the wedding.

My first thought was: what would I do with the rope, and where to I put it? But then I thought about a keychain. I would totally use a keychain with some cute rope on it. Other than that, I think the idea of giving people the choice to select one of the two favors.
