I don’t think it would be offensive!  I think it’s very special and represents how much he means to you as his friend.  I don’t see it as having to do anything with his sexual preference.

i would definitely ask- it is such a compliment and an honor i’m sure your friend would be happy to. don’t even bring up the issue of prop 8, just express that if you could have anyone officiate your wedding you’d love for it to be him- no matter what.

I certainly wouldn’t have a problem with it. I certainly didn’t ask our officant’s sexual orientation.

I think its a great idea. I’m sure he would gladly accept because he is your friend and his sexual orientation shouldn’t matter. However, if it does bother him then just be understanding.

It’s completely fine!  Priests aren’t allow to marry either yet they still marry people.

i think it’s a great idea. the only way to know for sure if he would have a problem with it is to ask ๐Ÿ™‚

what about your guests? if you have some very conservative family members, they might be the ones with a problem. whether or not you care about their opinions is a different question entirely.
