nicolewhelan18 :  nice ring! It looks prolly .5 carats for the center stone which will drive the ring price most likely. You can play around on blue Nike to see prices and also see the settings. Also try to see the metal stamp on the inside of the band if it’s white gold or Platinum. Congrats!

nicolewhelan18 :  no worries! Do you know how old it is? My ring is from the 1880’s. it was my grandmas and apparently belonged to someone before that.  i didn’t know it was that old. I went to an appraiser who explained things to me. I had to get an appraisal anyway for insurance.  You should wear it as your e-ring! I’ll be wearing mine as my e-ring and my future Fiance will buy me something to go with it or maybe something for my other hand.

nicolewhelan18 :  its a bypass shape with a round halo. Can’t tell you how old it is – bypass rings were big in the 1980s, but probably were around before that, and they’re still available today.

The round halo looks like it’s got a centre stone of 0.5 ct to 0.75 ct., and then there are 10 (?) smaller diamonds.

To custom make the ring without counting cost of centre stone would likely be $1000-1500 depending on quality of stones, the size of stones, your jeweler’s fees, and where you live (I’ve noticed London prices for custom work is insane. I’m assuming other big cities are similar)

then all that’s left to add is the centre stone. You can get a good quality 1/2 carat diamond at James Allen for $1270 (F colour, VS1 clarity)

if you want a 0.75 ct diamond in the centre – a good one (F colour, VS1 clarity, excellent cut) would be $3400 at James Allen (I use their diamond database to help estimate prices). Of course, you can always go for better or worse diamonds, which influences the cost a lot (an I coloured 0.75ct diamond with VS1 clarity and excellent cut is $2700 – so by dropping down a bit in colour you save a lot of money)

So depending on where you live, and the diamonds you choose – a ring like this will run you anywhere from around $2500 – $5000.  A lot is really going to depend on the quality and size of the diamond you choose

Are you wedded to the idea of the halo? James Allen has a beautiful bypass ring with engraving on the band. They don’t show it in rose/yellow gold but they are usually willing to customize a piece. https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/tension/14k-white-gold-hand-engraved-bypass-engagement-ring-item-52615

Here it is without the engraving. https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/tension/14k-white-gold-spiral-tension-set-engagement-ring-item-197

nicolewhelan18 :  to get the approximate carat weight just Google “mm to ct” and then measure the stones and use the chart to figure it out. Also, you should try a band style ring on with that one so you see how a wedding band would sit against a ring like that to be sure you really want a bypass style.
