ok. so bear with me as i attempt to think/type through my different layouts for how our wedding can be set up….
here is the aerial view of my friend’s residence where we are having the wedding…
the guest will park along the road on the shoulder, and my friend is letting us use her golf carts to escort the guests from the road down her driveway to the circular drive…..now here is my initial thinking on how everything would be set up:
her house is at the top of the picture….the trees around the circular drive will be lit with christmas lights….my initial thinking was that we’d have the ceremony by the willow tree that is on the left of the picture….the thing i love about this option is that the ceremony and reception areas are seperate….however i feel like its gonna be wierd to have guests arrive at the ‘reception’ area first where all the tables are set up and then have to walk through it to get to the ceremony area…. thoughts on that?? the square next to the dance area is the spot where the DJ could go but the more i think about it the more i’m thinking of just putting him on the actual pavement next to the dance area somewhere….
oh and in case anyone is wondering of the scale of the drawing, here are some distances….from the house straight to the circular drive is about 80 feet….the circular drive itself is about 56-60 feet for the outside diameter….and the drive itself is about 12 feet wide…the long tree-line drive is about 250 feet long which is why she’s letting me use her golf cart to escort any guests who don’t wanna truck it on foot….(i wouldn’t blame them!!)
so here is my other idea:
2) have both ceremony & reception around the circular drive…using the pic above as a guide – for this option, the ceremony area would be at the top of the circular drive so that her house is the backdrop, we’d come out of the front door straight down the front lawn and then end at the front of the circular drive, but all the chairs would be set up on the circular drive, so the guests would be facing the house watching my BMs and me walk down the lawn…..then after the ceremony, the chairs would be put back at the tables and the area that was just set up as the ceremony would become the dance area…..and the sweetheart table would be set up opposite the fountain (at the bottom of the circular drive)…..
in both options, i think i’d have the food set up in the same spot where it is shown on the layout….just because it is closer to the house & kitchen….
one thing i didnt account for either is portable toilets – i’m going to have to rent at least 2 or 3 i think….
and last but not least, i though about using long tables instead of round tables and having everything set up at the base of the circular drive….something like this:
but i think i this is my least favorite option so i’m leaving it as a plan B in case it rains because its easier to put a tent over this area…..

so any ideas?? thoughts?? suggestions i didnt think of???
