My boyfriend and I have been studying about cushion cut stones for a few months and have finally ended up purchasing this one after having a few others on hold. We have 30 days to decide on this one, and haven’t had a chance to take it to another jeweler/gemologist for a second opinion yet, so I’d like some real people’s opinions on it in the meantime. We’ve probably looked at about 15-20 by this point. It’s a pretty unusual, hard to find facet pattern and I definitely like that it’s different; and my boyfriend says this is the first diamond we’ve seen in person that he has thought “wow.” Please don’t be harsh, but feel free to tell me what you think of it since I can return it if it’s not the best choice.
Thanks in advance, everyone!

I like it just fine, myself. The only cuts I don’t go for in diamonds is emerald cut, and marquise.
I wish I knew the setting you wanted, I like those gaudy ones that are in style now, like on the Bachelor. Your stone would look great in one of those.

I’m no gemologist, but it looks great to me. Pretty nails!

It is pretty. I have a cushion as well. But honestly a diamond is a diamond. I doubt anyone will be amazed by the unique facet pattern besides you, or a gemologist. If you are happy with it, then great.

Gorgeous cut, but you have to love it regardless of what anyone here says. 🙂

It looks fantastic to me! Lovely size, sparkle and colour. What’s the stats of it? If you don’t mind me asking.

i think even “ugly” “low quality” diamonds are beautiful…but wow. that one is gorgeous

It’s a lovely stone but I think the fact that my groom told me that this is the stone that made him go “wow” would be enough for me.

Thank you for all the great comments!
To be honest the reason I wanted other opinions is because by most guidelines you see online this one is a bit deep. But the gemologist we worked with picked this one out of the 3 or 4 we had him look at, and I know with cushions it’s all about what you think when you see it in person.
I originally went into this wanting a halo, but since getting this particular diamond with such angular facets I may have changed my mind to a solitaire with a pave band so it can stand out on its own. We decided to slow down and focus on the center stone first, and then decide from there since I have to have a custom made for my 3.5-3.75 finger anyway. Still pretty undecided at this point.
The reason I mentioned the facet pattern is we’ve never been able to see one of these in person so I wasn’t so sure of the “right” look for light return.
