I think the puzzle idea is great! How is your sister with painting on wood? You could have wood puzzle pieces with the back painted by her. Or you could even have the guests sign the painted side so that you could frame the puzzle if you wanted. If you go that route you could have a wooden card box that could be painted in a matching manner.

Oh if you find a way to do it you could always make the puzzle in the shape of a rainbow to get the effect you described. That would work with your pot of gold idea. A gold colored box would look nice with that rather than the normal black (or St. Patty’s day green)

@MissThespian:  lol I meant it as two sepearate puzzle ideas. You could have just a rainbow puzzle that you have to keep and put together whenever you two like or you could have your sister use your rainbow colors to make a painting on a normal shaped puzzle. I think I’d be pretty darn amused if I went to somebody’s house with a rainbow puzzle hanging on the wall though! Wink

I have to say, I really like your quilt idea too! There are so many great alternatives nowadays.

Have fun fabric shopping! Just don’t forget to have a little extra of each fabric so that you can test out whatever fabric markers your guests will be using on them!

If you decide to go with the quilt square guestbook, you could make a  quilted fabric covered cardbox. I couldn’t find a pic but basically the same idea as any fabric covered, padded cardbox- just piece the fabric first.

Here’s a link to an old post for more ideas:
