anon7777 :  yeah that does seem crazy. The longest natural  luteal phase is usually about 16 or 17 days. NTNP means not trying, not preventing 😊

SquidWeds :  yeah I think it might depend on the person, but for most it’s typically a similar length each cycle. I know breast feeding and certain hormones can affect the length as well.

anon7777 :  It means not trying, not preventing.  Basically, having unprotected sex and being ok with either outcome, but not actively trying (charting, etc) to become pregnant.  If you guys talked about it and you’ve decided to take that approach, that’s great!  Hopefully it happens for you soon.

anon7777 :  As far as I know, the longest your luteal phase can be is 16 or 17 days.  There is basically no way you can ovulate on CD10 and have a 30 day cycle (20 day luteal phase) UNLESS you are pregnant (and maybe didn’t test and then had a chemical pregnancy) or on meds to extend it.  As others have said, there are 2 phases to your cycle.  The follicular phase where the egg develops and the luteal phase which begins after ovulation.  The follicular phase can vary wildly (you can ovulate on almost any day of your cycle except during your period- meaning women can ovulate on CD10 or CD30) but your luteal phase will be consistent.  Luteal phase will maybe vary by a day or two but this is generally between 10-16 days for most women.

kes18  got pregnant BDing only 5 days before so it’s definitely possible although not as likely as 1 or 2 days before.

anon7777 :  For sure! Our bodies can vary sometimes, and other times we are just more in tune with our bodies. If you’re interested in tracking your ovulation more closely, I’d recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and charting your BBT/using OPKs. If you guys are just going with the flow, then keep doing what you’re doing :).

anon7777 :  Yeah I got pregnant from sex 5 days before.  It happens.  I think I read odds were only like 10% versus 25% if you were to have sex closer to O but that’s not 0%.  You can test about 9-13 days after O.  But 9 days may not be accurate yet but you could get a positive that early, but it could also be delayed a few more days..  I would think 14-15 DPO would be highly accurate as to whether or not you were pregnant.  So, add 5 days to that- 19-20 days from unprotected sex date would probably be close to 100% not pregnant (if negative).  And you could get a positive as early as 14 days from date of unprotected sex.

anon7777 :  well in my opinion, if you’re far along enough to have real pregnancy symptoms you’re far along enough to have a positive test.  If you’re getting negative tests those symptoms aren’t pregnancy symptoms (don’t know if you’ve tested at all yet).  Implantation does not occur until roughly 9 days after ovulation (before then fertlization can occur but you would not yet be pregnant because the embryo needs to implant to cause pregnancy hormones which = symptoms)

anon7777 :  Sunday sounds like a good plan. Just an FYI, I’ve had lightning crotch symptoms before when I wasn’t pregnant.
