So, I went for my trail this weekend and was generally pleased with the work. However, when I showed the pics to my mother and sister. They hated it! The biggest complaints were that I didn’t look like myself and that we could probably do what the stylist did ourselves for free.
Please advise! I wanted to look more dramatic than I normally do but not so much that I look strange!

@crod1279: I’m going to be brutally honest here , so please don’t be upset. I would find another salon or stylist because both hairstyles look sloppy and very much like every day hairstyles. There is no question that you could absolutely do what was done in these photos yourself, for free. Also, the flower is badly positioned. The flower itself should be lower and positioned so that it is tilted forward on your head. I’m sorry 🙁

@crod1279: I agree with the PP that the person who did your hair and make-up didn’t seem to really put that much effort into it. I think the hair looks like something you could do yourself and I am not a huge fan of the flower…well at least with its placement. And the make-up doesn’t look that flattering with your skin tone, she should have put concealer under your eyes but maybe it is just the lighting in your picture. It kind of looks like you have a circle of make-up around both eyes. I think I would keep searching for a better hair and make-up person. 🙂 But you look beautiful otherwise.

I am also not sure about the light colors in the smoky eye. I feel like you have the skin tone to pull off something a bit darker and more dramatic, unless you’re going for a very beachy feel.

I don’t think it looks sloppy at all. I think it’s beautiful!
I’d love to have my every day hair look that good!

@crod1279: What did you show them for an idea for hair and makeup? Is that your hair piece?
The makeup, your family hating it is going to depend on what they’re used to seeing you wear and I don’t consider that dramatic, but not terrible.
The hair looks nice, but simple so again I think we need to see what you showed them for ideas to judge the work they did!

@crod1279: I like the second pic that I see of your hair with it on the side. From what I see of your makeup it looks really nice. Now I am now a fan of the huge flower…..I think it is distracting and taking about from your beautiful face. If you want to wear a flower what about something a little smaller?
The flower you have in looks really bulky. Something like this is still large and very much a statement but not as bulky looking

I agree that the makeup could probably be done yourself, however, you’d probably spend just as much buying the cosmetics to do it.
The hair.. well I don’t like the flower at all, I think a really cute medium sized flower pin would look lovely. Your hair, you probbaly couldn’t do yourself and it’s exceptionally difficult to get to the back of your head , but I do agree, it doesn’t look like she put ALOT of effort into it for being “professional”. If you have your mom or someone help you with your hair, it could be easily done.

Hm, I’m an outlier here, but I think it looks great, and there’s no way I could do that hairstyle (or makeup, for that matter) on myself! I especially like the way it looks in the last two pictures, with your hair swept to one side.

I think it looks really pretty! 🙂

You are def going to make a beautiful bride, but I think this is something you could achieve yourself. As a PP said the flower needs to be positioned elsewhere because of it’s size.
If I had to choose I would say the first hairstyle is the most flattering (but again something you can do yourself).I would go somewhere else for the makeup as well. I think they could do a better job with your eyes.

Thank you all for your honesty. I don’t typically use a lot of makeup and so was ok with what she did. As for the hair, I included a couple of the pictures I previously sent her prior to the trail. Her comment to me was that she would make it more smooth and polished the day of. Having never done this before, I thought that was typical and didnt make a big fuss.
The headpiece is the that I purchased and I actually love it. I can see however that positioning it differently would be better.

the hair is ok in my opinion, but i don’t like the flower at all. & it’s hard for me to judge really since I don’t know what you usually look like.
