My mom and I went shopping for her MOB dress just a day after I picked my own dress, and she found two really great options (on sale)–or so I thought. Now, several months later, my dad has said he thinks the one she was planning on wearing looks too “young” and like she is trying to look less than her age. She’s 58 and I think she looks awesome for her age… no reason to look “old” and matronly if you don’t have to… but that’s my opinion. I know my dad’s opinion is important to her and she doesn’t want to look like she is trying too hard, either. I asked her if she wanted to get the opinion of the Bees and she said sure! So please weigh in!
This is the one she is considering buying right now…

And this is the one I helped her pick out earlier this year.

I like the one she has already much better. I think it is far more figure flattering and I don’t think it is age inappropriate at all.

I hate to go against the grain, but…I just don’t like the blue one at all. It might be the material…but it looks a little dated. If I’m the only one then I’ll shut up haha!
You’re right though she totally doesn’t look her age, I say go with whatever she likes and feels most comfortable with!

Your mom does NOT look 58!! Hopefully you got those genes!

@ebarnes0: No worries going against the grain! That’s why I wanted feedback!
What do you guys think if she got some kind of cardigan or short jacket to go with the original dress? I do feel like it flatters her figure more, but I wonder if my dad is thinking she is showing too much skin and that’s why she looks “young” ish. Do you think a jacket would weigh it down for a spring wedding? What color would work?
@Sea_Ashley: Thank you! I think she looks great too. A lot of people think I’m younger than I am, so I hoping as I get older, I’ll look as great as my mom.. She has always been good about exercising and eating well… I need to get on that, haha.

The dress she has is WAY more flattering (though you have one hot mama that looks great in both!)

@whitemochi622: Your mama is smokin’ for 58 years old. I think she looks great in the original dress that you helped her pick out. It really compliments her shape.

@whitemochi622: i like the dress you picked much better. And I definitely think she could get a short bolero or shrug. Maybe champagne?

This 53 yo MOB thinks your mom should stick with the dress she already has and your dad needs a silly slap to the head.
