Okay so i recently went to a showcase that had a photo-booth rental (thepros to be exact) and my first thought was what a waste of money, that thing is too big and people will be spending to much time there instead of in the actual reception but then ……. My Maid/Matron of Honor, bridesmaid and I couldnt resist trying it out and boy was that a fun 2 minutes haha. I really began to second guess my first opinion on it. So what do you Bee’s think… anyone with an experience rental?

We had one and it was awesome!
It’s a fun activity for your guests, especially those that don’t like to dance, and for us it was extra insurance that we would get pics of guests missed by our photographer. I don’t regret the decision for a second.. Maybe only that we didn’t get a bigger one!

I think it depends on what you are going for in terms of the feel of your reception. I think these are way more suited to less formal receptions. I’m not a huge fan, in general, but I do love how some bees are using the pics as the guestbook. That is such an awesome idea!

thanx… that was a very honest opinion. crazy how the poll votes vary:

We had one as our guestbook and everyone loved it. The one change I would make would be not to have all the costumes. It’s hard to see who people are in some pictures, plus I think regular photos are more timeless. Actually I asked our photo booth business to leave the costumes at home for these reasons but they forgot. What can you do?

I probably wouldn’t rent one, because they cost so much. But I would definitely DIY one. Did you see the tutorial on Offbeat Bride?

I had one and loved it! All the people who managed to escape the photographer loved the photobooth so I have pictures of all my guests. I used it as a guestbook too and got some awesome messages from all my favorite people. Like other people said, it was also great for guests who don’t enjoy dancing. All in all it was one of my favorite things at my wedding.

We had one and everyone loved it. We got a book at the end of everyone’s photos too which was pretty funny.

yes i actually made one for my xmas ugly sweater party, here’s a couple pix of the turnout:
NOTE: only issue i have with this is i only have one photographer scheduled and if i consider a DIY i would have to book a second one which would probably cost more than just renting the booth since they come with a attendant.

One of the best decisions of the entire reception we made was renting the photo booth! 🙂 We got a book at the end with all the pictures and everyone signed by their pictures and left us cute little messages. Even my 88 year old grandma got in there with a feather boa and blew a kiss at the camera. Our wedding was over a year ago and when I go to my friends and family members’ homes, a lot still have the strips on the fridge or around the house. Makes me happy to see!

I think they are fun! I always make a point to get a few shots whenever I go to a wedding with them. I got a great deal for one on living social (like 1/2 off). If I had to pay full price for it I’d probably think twice…

I have one for ours. I have loved them at every wedding I’ve been to so I just had to do it.

We had one and it was such a hit! Everyone loved it and the pictures are hilarious. We also had a very formal reception and it in no way took away from it.
