It is a nice name and if you love it, you should use it.

The first thing that comes to mind is Shakespeare’s play, The Two Gentlemen of Verona.

EffieTrinket :  I saw this earlier today but didn’t have time to respond.  I just wanted to let you know that Verona Josephine is beautiful!

I also think of Shakespeare, which is fine. But the name does feel very heavy to me, which I don’t like…

I have a name very similar to Verona and my daughter’s mn is Josephine so I may be a little biased as I think both are very pretty names.  My daughter has a 3 syllable fn as well and we were a little worried, but honestly, no one ever really even says her names together…her full name is 10 syllables! And sure, on her birth certificate it’s a mouthful but in everyday life it’s no big deal. I also like the idea of a unique name combined with a very traditional name. That way if your daughter ever decides she doesn’t like her unique name she has something more traditional to fall back on. And finally, as a side note, we kept her name private from our family and friends until she was born. Everyone has an opinion, but I found just introducing her as *verona josephine* I got all very positive reactions as once it’s a given name, people are less likely to be assholes about it. Now I couldn’t imagine her being named anything different.

Verona just sounds made-up to me as a name, not a place. What about Vera? That’s top on our list and and actual name.

EffieTrinket :  Congrats. I love the name Verona and my first thought was that Verona Rose would be pretty.

I actually really like the name Verona…it’s unique and pretty…similar to Vera and Veronica too. I have a cousin named Veronica and she’s gone by “Ronnie” her whole life, so that could be a nickname (if you don’t hate it…it always suited my cousin). As far as middle names…I like the single syllable suggestions better than the ones you listed.

Darling Husband is actually from a city called Verona, but I think it’s a nice name too. Unique but not difficult to spell or say.

Personally I would probably go with a one syllable middle name, unless you have a really short last name?

    Verona Jane?

I think if you like it you should definitely go for it!  BUT I should clarify that my first thought when I read that was “isn’t that Target’s clothing brand name?” It’s actually Merona, but that was still my first thought.

I work in a town called Verona so that’s what I associate it with lol. But it is a beautiful name! I think it would work best with a one to two syllable middle name that starts with a vowel or an L/M–something soft sounding like Verona Marie or Verona Elaine.

I really like Verona! Never heard it used as a person’s name, just the place name in Romeo & Juliet. I would recommend a single-syllable middle name, though, since Verona has 3 syllables.

    Verona Claire

    Verona Paige

    Verona Laine

    Verona June

    Verona Kate
