I think it’s pretty gorgeous…My dress is Vera Wang (oncewed!) and I think the DB ones look very similar in style and they seem to be pretty good quality too!  Anyone who doesn’t have their dress already should start there!

As much as I love my dress I am dying to try a few of Vera Wang’s line on. But I told myself no. Those dresses are gorgeous!

I’m not impressed. They certainly aren’t gorgeous or anything, but may be better in person.

I tried on most of the Vera collection last night. It was my very first gown shopping trip, so maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but I was disappointed by the quality. The dresses feel cheap, heavy, non-breathing, and itchy. The finishes are bad–my consultant was having problems with the zippers on almost all of the dresses. They fit me weirdly–loose in the stomach, tight on the butt, and (obviously) loose on my nonexistent rack. But I’m sure a good seamstress could help a sister out.

All that said, I think they look pretty good in pictures! And I guess it would be nice to have a dress I wouldn’t worry about staining or ripping. :-/

my favorite in person

(that “floral hip corsage” looks like a prize–but this is my favorite in pictures)

Not pictured: the Ivanka dress (really uncomfortable and, on me, unattractive) and VW370017, the halter one, which looked cheap to me in person.

I hope this post isn’t incredibly annoying to Vera Wang White brides! I think the dresses just weren’t quite right for me.

If you’ve tried them on, what did you think? Did you agree with me about the quality? Do I need to adjust my expectations?

update: I saw another WeddingBee bride say that with White by Vera Wang, you’re getting great design, rather than stellar fabric and finishes. That’s the perfect description, I think.

I’ve already ordered mine.  My dress is VW 351011 and I love it!!! but I have to agree that the quality for some of the dresses look cheap.

@MuiMui:

I am torn between VW 351011 & VW351029!!! I think VW 351011 is very elegant but VW351029 seems more stylish…I already expected that this budget line is about the design and not the quality…But still I do believe that it’s the one!

@smyley:

I’m in agreement. I tried on a few and wasn’t impressed by either the material or the styles themselves. I feel like these are the types of dresses that may be trendy, but like the poofy sleeves of the 80’s, we will look back one day and ask what we were thinking.

I bought the pink dress as my reception dress and I couldn’t be happier.  I am a second time bride, and had an extremely expensive Reem Acra for my first wedding.  It looked beautiful and if you have the money laying around, go for it.  But for me, and the fact that we’re paying for the wedding ourselves, it’s just not worth the money for an $8,000 dress that you’ll wear for a few hours!

I 100% agree with the other posts about the fabric quality.  You are definitely paying for the name, and her signature style/designs.  They aren’t “cheap” by any means, but they definitely lack in the quality of her other gowns.  What else would you expect…it’s a $7,000 difference in cost!

That rant being said, if you want a couture looking dress, without a couture price, I don’t think you can go wrong.  You can tell that they’re designer gowns with a “trendier” style, which I don’t think differs from her more expensive line.

I love my pink Vera, and I won’t have to pay for it for the rest of my life!  🙂
