It depends on where you live. I think diamonds are on the expensive side where I’m from (originally Australia, now New Zealand) so to me that diamond looks huge! I would say that would stand out a lot here, so if you would be uncomfortable with attention I would go for something smaller. But that might be totally different where you are!

I’d go a smidge smaller, maybe quarter to half carat smaller.

It’s not in doorknob territory, but aesthetically I prefer a slightly smaller proportion

@bee96:  I really think that that finger coverage looks perfect for what you’re going for. Unless you do decide that you want a lot of attention, I wouldn’t go bigger. You have such lovely, dainty hands!

It looks very large but that’s just my opinion. I’m sure it’d look amazing in person.

@bee96:  iMHO I always gravitate to larger stones. Your ring looks outstanding on you.

I think it’s perfect! It does look substantial and is noticeable, but I would say it’s just because your ring size is pretty small – I don’t think the actual stone size is overpowering or obnoxious whatsoever, and 1.5 carat is a good size. A lot of people seems to be gravitating towards larger stones, whether diamond, moissanite, or other gemstones, so I don’t think it’d be super out of place either.

@bee96:  Personally I would not change a thing. The coverage is simply perfect.  Not too much and not to small.  I just love it quite honestly.

@bee96:  that is a good problem to have! The 1.5 looks like a 2.5 on you. Totally pull the trigger.

If you plan to pair your engagement ring with a wedding band on the same finger rather than say, wearing them separate on each ring finger (my mom wears her rings that way), maybe try it on with a band to get an idea of your full set.
