I hope it’s not necessary, because I’m not inviting all the parents of my bridesmaids and my fiance’s groomsmen. My parents haven’t been invited to every wedding I’ve been in, just ones where they know the bride/groom well, just like any other guest. I think this rule would only apply for flower girls/ring bearers..

I don’t it’s necessary or traditional.  I’m sure there are plenty of brides that do end up having the parents of various wedding party members, but those are probably close childhood friends.  My best friends parents will probably be at our wedding, but that’s because our families have known each other since were were 4 years old.

I would invite the parents of any children that were in your bridal party, of course, but besides that unless I was close to the parents as well, I’d skip it.

We didn’t invite the parents of my FH groomsmen with the exception of one… who happens to be his brother so obviously we invited them since they are his parents too.  As for the Bridesmaids… 2 are cousins so yeah their parents are invited and the 3rd is my best friend and I’m close to her family/parents so yeah they are coming.  I invited her brother too.  My child attendants are both kids of close family friends so they will be there too…. So in our case yes on all but 2 groomsmen who both happen to be over 50 anyway… my FH is 47 and I’m 35 so…

absolutely not.  you are friends with the member of your wedding party – not their parents.  If you have been super close with one, known them forever, and you want to invite their parents because you have also known them forever, thats fine.  but if you have never met someone’s parents, no reason for them to be there at all!
