A friend of mine got married this summer and her actual bustle broke so she ended up carrying her train on a wrist loop that was already on the dress. It looked adorable (I thought she had done this on purpose) but she said it was so heavy by the end of the night and she was sick of it… Keep in mind if your dress/train is heavy.

I used mine until I got bustled when we got to the recption. I love the way that it looks but for me it was just not something I could do all night. It started to really hurt my wrist after a little while. I think it just depends on the dress though.

There are two alternatives for keeping your train out of the way, there is the wrist loop and there is the bustle. The wrist loop can be very heavy on your hand by the end of the day but the bustle requires basic understanding of how the skirt falls, so it might help you to try out pinning it up with someone else wearing it. To bustle it, you sew an inconspicuous button or hook into the dress at the bottom of the fastening, and a small ribbon or cord loop about 2/3 of the way down the train. When the loop is hooked onto the button it *should* hang like an elegant bustle without exposing the underskirts too much.
