(Some of you might recognise this post, but made the decision to blur my face in the photo, so have reposted!
I really need your honest opinion about this gown named ‘Ivy’! It’s designed by Elite Sposa, and is the ONLY one the gown shop can get hold off, so I’m under pressure to make a decision. It’s WAAAAAY out there with huge crystal feathers on the bodice …. I’m very girly and love all things sparkly but i’m worried people won’t see me as a bride, but see the dress only…. if that makes sense? I’m also an American gal in a British body …… we British are usually very reserved, but I’m the opposite and would never put myself in a demure lace number, but I worry people will judge me for making such a statement! Sooo tell me what you think (The dress is currently to small – I’m in the process of losing weight having lost about 14lbs already) So imagine me with a smaller waist and more toned thinner arms (a girl can dream HAHA) x x x all opinions welcome please …. Don’t hold back! Too much, just right or just plain hideous?!?!?

Difficult one, its not a dress i’d choose but i dont hate it. If you love it and it represents your personality then go for it. Its only you that has to love it after all.

I’m not sure about the ruffles around your hips they don’t flow quite right into the rest of the skirt.
If I was you I wouldn’t be pressurized into making this decision – you have a beautiful figure and I think you could find something more stunning if you carry on looking.
But that is just my opinion – if you love it, go for it! x

I love the dress! If you a want a statement dress, this is it! But you have to feel gorgeous in it and like a bride, and if that’s how you feel in the dress then get it! 🙂
If you don’t feel right in it, keep looking.

I actually voted for that one on your poll. I love it! Its unique and that’s what I love about it. If you love it get it! It doesn’t matter what other people think its YOUR day to wear what you love 🙂

I think its incredibly unique…to me that says alot. It is beautiful on you, personally if I loved it on me I’d go for it, it def screams OOAK to me (also love how you have your hair done, it brings it all together!)

I would just be a little careful about where it is too small, if its a long way from fitting. Depending on where you carry your weight, even a big loss might not make the dress fit and I have been told it is very difficult to let a dress out as there is just not enough fabric. I find, for example, that I do not get much smaller around my ribcage when I lose weight, as most of my weight is on my lower half.
I really like the dress and if the size is not a problem I say go for it and make yourself happy! I’m getting married in the UK and bring an over-the-top dress from USA too! Hehe! Yay!

I have to be honest, I’m really not a fan of this dress. It gives me hte impression of being just too much… too much going on. I’m also really not a fan of the beading ont eh bodice.. it tends to draw attention straight to your boobs.

The ruffles at the hip are a bit strange. I couldn’t do it because I’m hippy already.

@stargurl101: I agree. I think it is all too much. I am not a fan of the beading or the poofiness around the hips.
But if you love it, that’s what matters.

If you love it then thats all that matters. Honestly, I think there is a lot going on. Like PPs have stated – the ruffles around the hips are really throwing me off.

Part of it has to do with the fit of the dress, but my issue with it is that I’m reasonably sure you have a nice shape under all that dress, but I can’t tell. Most dresses are designed to cinch you in at the waist and then either fit down past the hips or flare out. This one just start going outwards at the lower waist, making it seem like you’re bigger than you are. I’d check with alterations and make sure that’s something they can take in properly and adjust. With a dress THIS dramatic, it has to fit perfectly to look good. If they can do it, and it’s your style, then go for it!
