I personally think you’ll be wildly disappointed going knock off with a dress that has this many details.  There’s a zillion gorgeous white wedding-appropriate dresses out there for <$500.  Don’t spend your money on this.

@stuffy14:  I purchased this book Bridal Bargains on Amazon and this gal explained how, as you said, most dresses are actually made in China, so if you choose carefully, you can get a super duper dress from there for a fraction of the price. I have not done it myself, but she was very positive about it. Her book was very thorough and knowledgable in many other ways, so I think she knows what she’s talking about, and I believe her book and blog may mention specific vendors she recommended from hearing from other brides.

Bridal Bargains is pretty old at this point. One Perfect Day actually goes into the factories…and convinced me to buy American.

I would personally buy secondhand or get a sample over buying a replica.
