Even though this is old I’m bumping it…

I JUST read on another site that saliva kills sperm…of course I read this 5 days into my fertile window…I can’t believe we might have blown our first try just because we like a little foreplay!!!???  And I agree with you.  Talk about a mood killer :/

From my understanding the saliva can act as a barier, but by the time he ejaculates there is hardly any trace of sperm remaining. As long as he doesn’t just stick it in right before he cums (sorry for being graphic I couldn’t figure out another way to explain it) you should be all set. If is was done on a woman, there isn’t usually any saliva remaining. And this only hurts the sperms chances if his guys are weak swimmers. If there is nothing wrong with his sperm and he is healthy then the saliva shouldn’t matter.

Yes saliva can kill sperm. While TTC I did perfom oral on Darling Husband and we concieved the first month of trying. As long as the oral is given in the beginning stages of intercourse and not around the time the man is going to ejaculate not enough saliva is left to kill the sperm.

Well, I can only imagine it hurts TTC if he ejaculates in your mouth because then you’re not getting sperm anywhere near an egg. The saliva won’t affect future sperm production, and as long as you aren’t doing oral in the few seconds before trying to have him ejaculate in your vagina you should be fine (i.e., oral for foreplay is fine, trying to get him off with oral and then last second attempt to switch positions is probably not the best for TTC or for general pleasure)

I’ve heard that if you have oral sex (and swallow) in general it helps future TTC efforts because it familiarizes your body with your partner’s sperm, so you’re less likely to miscarry/not conceive

This may be total bull though, not sure how this was proven

@MabelleBliss:  I’ve actually heard that too.  Not like I have to worry…Darling Husband gets oral way more than he gives.  I’m sure my body is pretty used to his DNA by now 😉
