We hired Joe Paxton with Atmosphere Entertainment. If you tell him those two requirements he’ll do it.  He was easy to work with.

We are going with Joe Paxton at Atmosphere as well. We obviously haven’t gotten married yet, but we booked him about a year ago for our wedding and he has been very professional and usually responds back to emails within the business day. He has a full staff though so if you meet with him and like him, make sure he is available on your day and is listed in your contract. He is really good about working with you for song suggestions and doesn’t bat an eyelash at whatever requests you ask of him.

Can everyone post the costs of said DJs above?

My vendor recommends a few all at $450 for the event and one had a lighting package for $195 but I’m not sure that is what I should be paying… I know he’s recommended by the vendor and I like him a lot but I just would rather not over pay Embarassed

We used DJ Dais, Daisuke Takeoka.  He was amazing!!! Kept the dance floor going, got all our must play songs right, no glitches with any of the important songs, cued them in the parts I asked, and made sure not to play any of my “do not play” list that guests had requested without first asking me if it was ok.  I cannot recommend him enough, he really made the night.  http://www.djdaisentertainment.com/

@KimmySumShuga:  That sounds like a great deal. How many hours is your event? We also have lights from our DJ (up and pin – but our room is very big) and we are over $2k for both sound and lights. You can also email Atmosphere and ask for a price list and go from there. We might have just asked for a lot from him besides the basic stuff. He was recommended from our venue and has worked there extensively, as well as with our other vendors, so we didn’t shop around for others.

@KimmySumShuga:  That is a very good price for a dj, you won’t find anyone much cheaper in OC, we are paying $500 w/out lighting.

I feel like I am paying an arm and a leg for a DJ/Lighting! We have had around 5 quotes from the top 5 DJs that I have found on Wedding Wire and The Knot. The cheapest was around $1,650 and the most expensive was around $2,400. That was for 5 hrs, the ceremony/cocktail, around 18 up lights throughout the room, a pin spot on the cake, and a design on the dance floor. Not sure how to find any cheaper in Newport Beach???? Anyway…I am willing to pay thought, just to have that DJ quality and professionalism there.

Advice/opinions???

Thanks! 🙂

@lilbluebird:  oh awesome! actually a few bees have contacted me to see what DJs are on the recommended vendor list of my venue cuz apparently DJs are EXPENSIVE!

I am getting married aboard The Eternity of Electra Cruises and both ceremony and reception will be around 4 (but maybe 5!) hours…

Electra prides themselves on having “all-inclusive” wedding packages so they have negotiated rates with all vendors necessary from flowers to cake to dj & officiants so I think thats why the $450 cost… Their private booking cost might be different but I know my DJ actually has a corporate job and does this on the side because he loves it and loves working with my venue. He’s so sweet and fits our style of wedding so well that I’m really happy he was available on our date!

Electra has a mini wedding expo of all the recommended vendors including in the package pricing when brides do their tasting so everyone can meet and greet and make arrangements with vendors they actually like all in one place – a big plus!

Here are a few DJ’s that I got the contact info of but didn’t book because of style preferences and just ill-fit for our wedding:

Terri O’Brien
She is an older rocker-ish type woman~ She seemed okay but a little too “know it all” for us and we’re not the rocker types so I think she’d be a better fit with another couple.
Her # is 760-325-4366
& her email is [email protected]

Next was “Entertainment Concepts”
I don’t actually remember any of the DJs names at that table but I do have their contact info from a flier I got from their table-

THENNNNNN

There’s my DJ who I LOVE! He’s super cool, easy going, latin & a family man who knows how to keep it classy at cocktail hour & beyond yet keep the energy up.  My number one thing in a DJ was to find somone who’s personality and style matched/reflected my fiance and I as a couple and our event and he is it!

He only takes one wedding per weekend because he’s a family man and has a corporate job during the week but if he’s available, BOOK HIM! I’m super excited we got him!

His name is Roy Mendoza.

Hope that helps, my OC pretties! and I hope these DJs will work with you for a similar cost even tho you’re not booked through Electra Cruises. Its worth a try!

Let me know if you have any more questions! Kiss
