Are tiger lilies in season in August? They would make a  gorgeous contrast to the Hydrangeas. Didn’t your florist have any suggestions?

@Aug2011Bride:

We got the dahlias from a dahlia farm about an hour or so from our home/city venue the Thursday befor the Saturday wedding.  They looked fine. I would suggest putting them in large buckets that you can get from Home Depot or Lowe’s, so they have plenty of room.  (I ended up bringing them to the Nursing Home I worked at the morning after the wedding, and they were on the tables for probably another week.)  I just put the buckets in the guest room and left them alone except to add water to the buckets as needed.)  Unless you are planning on doing something extra fancy arrangements they would likely be okay.  We just placed them in canning jars tied with raffia and they were gorgeous.  I bet they would look lovely with white hydrangeas.-or you could just do white and orange dahlias.  I paid $10.00 for a dozen stems.

Sunflowers tend to toe the line between yellow and orange, and some varieties are definitely more orange. I personally love them… they are so bright and happy! They are also comparatively cheap! But it depends on how “orange” you want the flowers to be.

I found this picture, but I’m not sure what’s in season.  I tried googling, but couldn’t find it for sure.

zinnias, alstromeria, calendula, cockscomb (awesome in august), freesia, gladiolas, pincushion proteas, montbretia, and spray roses are all different than some of the other postings.
