I was just looking this up the other day! I’ve modified mine a bit to exclude the religious elements since we’re having a totally secular ceremony. Ours will go something like this (super rought outline, and I may have forgotten something. I’m going off of memory):

Prelude (30-45 minutes of music)

Seating of parents (special song)

Procession of bridal party (continuation of parents’ song)

Procession of bride (separate special song)

Officiant Greeting/Welcome (ours is also a friend, so she may talk about us as a couple here)

Reading #1- “Love” by Roy Croft

Officiant words about what marriage means, what a big commitment it is, love’s role, etc- excerpt from “Goodridge vs Dept of Health”

Explanation of Sand Ceremony (either by officant or other reader)

Sand Ceremony (with some background music)

Rading #2- “The Union,” by Robert Somethingorother

Personal vows that we write ourselves

Traditional vows with “I do”s

Ring ceremony

Announcement of Marriage/Kiss

Recessional (special song)

Postlude (20 minutes of music)

Hope that helps!

As we speak, I am at home on a two hour break between ceremony and reception, and the ceremony went EXACTLY as Miss Fish posted.  My friend didn’t have a sand ceremony or unity candle or anything, but everything else was exactly the same.  Good advice 🙂
