- Wedding: December 2011
I looked but couldn’t seem to find a thread that had addressed this subject. I know there’s a lot about the “order of events” for a reception, but it seems like almost everyone has a meal at their reception.
My Fiance and I are getting married at 7pm on a Friday, and the reception will be at 7:30pm. To save money, we made sure we informed guests on their invitation that it is a standing cocktail reception which means we will only be serving hors d’oeuvres at the reception along with beer and wine. There is no “cocktail hour” before hand. For our wedding party entrance, each person gets a clip of a song but they don’t know what it will be until they are announced – so it will be alot of fun picking out songs for each person. We are entering to “Champagne” by Ne Yo – a more sophisticated way to kind of end the bridal party entrance. From there though, I wasn’t sure what the order of events should be. Should toasts come next, or should it be the first dance? I want to include everything – first dance, toasts, cake cutting, bouquet/garter toss, daddy-daughter dance, etc.
Any imput is greatly appreciated. =D
