I’ve been lurking on this site for ages, but have never posted since I’m not having a traditional wedding (We’re semi-eloping; only our immediate families will be there, no real reception).
Anyway I ordered a dress from inweddingdress.com, and I am confused about how I feel now that I’ve received it. The pic gives a very different impression than it does in person and I need some HONEST opinions that I know I can get here (:
So here is the pic from the website:
And here is me wearing it (sorry for the poor quality, camera phone):
Please give me your opinions! Anything will help. I’m afraid the lace looks cheap and don’t want to give that impression on my wedding day, even if I am eloping.

Sorry OP but it does not look like the picture.

Its cute but it does not look like the picture

Aside from the way the bottom of the skirt is cut it looks fairly close, I think. It’s hard to tell from the pictures if the lace looks “cheap” though, that will have to be your own call. If you aren’t happy with it and you can afford to get another one then go for it 🙂 But I think the dress looks nice on you.

Its hard to tell what the seem was supposed to look like since thats right where the text goes across the picture, but I dont think it looks anything like it and has a completely different fit to it on the picture and on you. The side view looks ok, but, sorry, I’m not really a fan of the dress on you in the first picture.

Honestly they did a terrible job making that dress. Could you take it to a local seamstress and see what she can do with it?

How disappointing not to receive exactly what you ordered! The dress that you received looks like it’s a different fabric and silhouette from the dress in the first picture. Luckily, you have a great figure and you look like you could pull off whatever you choose to wear!
The straps and back are unique and pretty, and the fitted bodice is flattering. If you really aren’t happy with the dress, I’d suggest seeing if you could ask a seamstress to alter the skirt (it looks like it could be fairly easily removed and she could replace it with something a bit more a-line and flowy like in the original photo).
Another option would be to look out for short white/ivory homecoming or prom dresses. Homecoming season is coming up, and there are usually some cute and inexpensive options!
Good luck to you!

I don’t know if it’s so much the lace as the bottom seam is so pronounced. You might want to shop around for a backup dress off the rack if you can’t get this one fixed.

It doesn’t look like the picture. 🙁

in the picture the company supplied it looks like that bottom seam is higher up in the front of the dress, and lower in the back. also the skirt is fuller and has more gathering in the supplied picture. i think the top looks good, and pretty close to the picture, but the skirt is off for shape…could you get that altered?

It doesn’t look like the picture to me either. If that’s the dress that you like, it’s from Watters. The Chinese website just lifted the photo from the Watters website, which probably is the reason why there is such a noticeable difference in construction, material, and style.

It looks like the girl in the picture has crinoline or something making it poofy. She has heels on, a bow, and is striking a confident pose. And of course its the real thing, replica makers cannot make it 100 percent match, they change things around slightly and use most likely less expensive material.
Wear it proudly, you are beautiful not the dress!

I agree that it doesn’t really look like the picture. 🙁 But I wonder if a seamstress could work a miracle. If not, there are a lot of cute short wedding dress options out there that are also really affordable.

I agree with ladies…go chat with a seamstress. They really are miracle workers. Good luck and let us know how it goes!! 😀

I think if you added a row of of crinoline and had it steamed if that would help. it does gap a little at the waist but I think if you are wearing a sash with it, that would take care of that. Overall, it really is not bad at all and I think once it is tweaked a little it will be very lovely.
