She said she will go on the 20th. You told them to go in October, and it’s only October 5th. Give her a break! Just relax, she’ll get it done in time.

I agree, if the 20th really stresses you out then you need to change your appointment and go when she can as the 20th is still in October like you instructed. Why didn’t she get measured the first time she tried on the dress? I wouldn’t really want to go an hour each way alone just to try on a dress and that is not something my Darling Husband would consider a fun night out so I get why she wants to wait for you.

@Bostongrl25:  Agreed!

@OP: I think you are being unreasonable here, and most likely driving your BMs crazy.  Relax, a few weeks isn’t going to make a huge difference, the bridal shop said to order sometime in October, your girl isn’t saying she can’t order until December, she’s saying more towards the end of October.

Relax, take a deep breathe, your girls know when they need to order, they are all planning on ordering this month so stop stressing, it’s their c oncern and not yours. If your one girl decides to not place her order this month and ends up having to pay more to have the dress rushed, that will be her concern to deal with.

I don’t see anything wrong with going on the 20th, you said she has to order in October and most people (my BM’s included) wait to the last minute. I gave my BM’s till 1 October and 2 of them went on 1 Oct to purchase their dress….SMH. It drove me nuts but that’s what I told them. I think it will be fine…most places give those times, but the dresses usually come back before it the time they say. I ordered my Wedding dress in March and they told me I would get it in July and I end up getting it at the beginning of June. I don’t think you should stress yourself.

I understand that you like things to be organized, so do I! However, we have to try not to impose your anxieties on our friends. She’s still got lots of time, pushing her could end badly.

Let her figure it out.  She’s an adult and knows the due date for ordering, plus she’s told you she’ll do it this month.  If she doesn’t order it in time, then she’s removed herself from the wedding party anyway and you’ll have one less girl to worry about.

@LovelyLaura8:  I totally understand where you’re coming from; I’m very much the same way.

I think she’ll be okay ordering on the 20th–so long as she does so. As for alterations, do NOT do them through that shop. They’ll be cheaper and quicker if you find a local seamstress/tailor shop to do them.

when my bestfriend ordered the bridesmaid dresses we all had to put half down on our dress and once the last bridesmaid paid and got measured the dresses would be ordered. well the bridal shop told her the dresses would take 3-4 months to come in, they came in 8 weeks.

bridal shops always tell you at least a month or two longer than it could possibly take just to on the safe side, and have their butts covered.

also want to mention that all my girls dresses arrive within 6 weeks, and the shop told us 2-4 months.

@LovelyLaura8:  If you’re worried about not getting the dress in time are they able to put a rush on it for an additional fee?  And I would recommend getting alterations at a private seamstress.  They don’t take nearly as long and are usually less expensive.
