(Closed) ordering Bridesmaid dresses

    The bridesmaids can order individually.

You should order everyone's dress and have them pay you.

I would do one order.  I ended up buying my dresses from Nordstrom’s, but when I went into bridal salons they said you have to order Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses at the same time to make sure they all come from the same dye batch, otherwise they could vary slightly in color.

You could send them paypal invoices or ask them to direct deposit into your account or mail a check.  If you bank with Chase they are not allowing people to put deposits into your account starting in March.  Three of my BM’s are in Arizona and they are direct depositing into my account for their dresses and the teller just informed them of this…Good Luck!!

I would order them together and ask everyone to mail you a check. If you asked them to do so by a certain deadline and claimed that you needed the money for deposits for other wedding expenses I would think they would be inclined to do so in a timely manner.

Another con to asking them to order seperately: a Bridesmaid or Best Man completely forgets about it, puts it off, etc. and the dress is no longer available. I’ve seen it happen… not good.

If you order them, are you planning on shipping them to each girl from the start or are you keeping them all? I would personally want my dress ASAP so I could get it tailored by someone of my choosing if need be.

@Anna10-05-2014:  For mine, I had each girl call the shop and pay by a deadline.  The shop ordered the dresses once every girl had paid.  It was the best of both worlds; I didn’t have to pay for the dresses, and they all got ordered together.

@Anna10-05-2014:  I would call your bridal store, tell then the names to look out for for ordering and then have your girls call your bridal shop and place an order (size, dress style, etc) and pay for it using their credit card. Then the bridal store can send all the little orders as one big order! Just make sure your bridal shop knows not to send the ordered without collecting all of them:)

I had my bridesmaid order directly with the store.

    Pretty dress!

The dye lot thing is not true. It may have been back in the day when everything was done by hand but dye lots are regulated by machines now. The dress color will be the same as long as the company doesn’t go through a redesign.

I would ask the BMs to order themselves. Otherwise you could be put in an awkward situation if they have trouble paying.

We pay for them all in the UK, so don’t have this issue as we expect the bill! But I would place one order. Hopefully you can trust the girls you have in your bridal party to pay you for them!
