Just learned from my Bridesmaid or Best Man today that her dress doesn’t zip up. She is tiny (like 100 lbs soaking wet) and petite…the issue, though, is that she has a wide back. I think the dress shop should have put her int he larger size, but it’s way too late now to get too caught up in that.
Has anyone here ordered extra fabric to get a panel sewn into the back of the dress? My sister lives in another state too, so I’m trying to do whatever I can from here.
Would love to hear your experiences!

@babycakes24: has she gone into a seamstress? can they let the dress out some?

Could you have a Corset back put in it and then add a panel of the same fabric behind the laces?

Can they let the dress out at all? How much too small is the dress? One of my friend’s had a Bridesmaid or Best Man who got pregnant after order the dresses, and was 5 months pregnant at the wedding. They added panels on each side of the dress, and it worked great and you couldn’t even tell it had been too small! If you can’t get extra fabric in time, I would look into having a corset back made on the dress.

She took it to a seamstress and will go back on Saturday to see what progress has been made. The dress is actually pretty large in the bust area, but doesn’t zip up more than halfway because of the width of her back. It will be let out and reconstructed as much as possible…but the seamstress seemed to think that some kind of panel/corset would be necessary….
What is involved in that process? Where does the fabric come from? Will it stick out (the dress is royal blue)?
