So I’m getting the attached Venus Bridal dress I tried a sample in a size 10 and it was almost PERFECT. It was actually even slightly big in the hips, but not enough for anyone but me to really even notice. According to the venus website the 10 should fit pretty darn perfect except on top it should be too small but it is a corset top so that would make sense that it would work. Now if I go into the shop tomorrow and they try and talk me into ordering a 12 should I not let them? The 10 was really really awesome and it’s the fit of the dress that I liked so much, I mean it really fit great and the corset made it look even better. So should I stick with how the sample size fit given that it’s a corset so it should mean there’s room to play with. Not to mention I am still in the process of loosing weight and am on the borderline of falling down into the size 10 on the size chart anyway? (Plus don’t most brides loose a tad bit of weight in the month or so before the wedding because of stress and such?) Oh and I’m trying to avoid alterations at all costs! What does the hive think?

Great question – I thought the bridal salon I went to would try and talk me in to a 12 as well, but they were really good about measuring a few times and they recommended a 10 because I am getting a corset style gown too. The ladies told me that they can always extend the panel in the back to cover space if needed, but that if I was getting a zipper or buttons they’d recommend a 12.
Ultimately it’s up to you, which also means that you live with the decision. If the 10 fit *almost* perfectly and you know that you have a possibility of staying the same or loosing weight, clearly – go with the 10.
Great dress, By The Way – can’t wait to see if you post pics of you in it.

I say order what you tried on. It would be different if they had to pin a larger size on you. I don’t imagine they’ll try to talk you into a larger size if you’ve tried the 10 – I think most cases where someone gets a size too large ordered is when the shop doesn’t carry their size.

Thanks so much ladies, I’m a little nervous since I had to try the dress on at another shop but I feel better hearing the advice. Oh and the dress has a half zipper like just barely to the top of the bum so I think my problem is more the top half of things so I should be safe! Thanks again!!
