Okay I’m sure I’m being silly here, and I guess I’m just looking for moral support 🙁 I’m being silly arent’ I? Help….
I’ve started folding my 1000 cranes (have maybe 50 done) and today I went to look online and found out I’ve been folding them incorrectly.
There’s a step for the neck and tail that I’ve been folding "wrong" and technically different / backwards to the way it’s "supposed" to be done. Mine don’t look a lot different than the "correct" way,
I don’t know why this is bothering me all of a sudden. Am I wrong? Should I scrap the 50 I’ve done? Should I keep going the way I’ve been doing them? Does it even matter? I’m going to cry and I’m not sure why…

Don’t scrap them….keep going…..and if you feel it will bother you start doing them from now on correctly. If you get 950 done correctly and decide those 50 will bother you redo them then….but don’t toss them now…you might be upset at yourself 950 later.

agreed, don’t scrap them! I’m sure 950 later you’ll look back and laugh at those 50
If anything, I’m sure the 50 won’t stand out among 950 others

No, don’t throw them away! They are your "special" cranes. 🙂

Origami is art. Art is inventive! You’re putting your own artful spin on it.
I’m also folding cranes. I have about 450 done. I can totally tell my early ones because they look like crap. Oh well. It’s more about the experience than the end result for me.
But I’m curious to know, how have you been folding yours?

Thanks everyone, I feel better now. I really appreciate the comments.
Kini – after you lift the flaps on the open end and fold it upwards, bringing in the sides… (to the point where it looks like a diamond) – I was opening / folding over the sides before making the smaller bottom-in folds for the head & tail.
The result was that mine end up slightly bigger than the "correct" version – the base of my wings don’t have that pretty fold detail but my tail come out fuller with a fold in the centre.
chelseamorning – I like that, my "special" cranes — you could interpret that in a couple of differnt ways 😀
