So i’m pretty upset, we were supposed to get our marriage certificate mailed back to us along with 2 extra certified copies because my Darling Husband is in the military so there’s another huge process to get added to his stuff. Well it’s been almost a month since our wedding and we still have no official certificate/ license, which means I haven’t been able to change my name, we haven’t been able to cash any checks from the wedding (because they were addressed to both of us with my new last name which I haven’t been able to change yet).
At first I thought oh well they might just be backlogged or it might take awhile for the mail to get here, but I checked a couple days ago, and it was filed on June 1st (the officiant has to mail them to the courthouse for records/ copies made after the wedding in Missouri then you get the original mailed to you afterwards) at the court house and mailed out that day which means my copies and original are somehow lost in the mail. Called the courthouse and they didn’t get it returned to them and I haven’t got it at home (we check the mail religiously).
So I’m hoping they will print me a few more copies and I can just go pick them up because I don’t want to mess with the post office possibly loosing it again. I just wish this whole process was going smoother and i’m ready for that certificate to be here now so I can get the whole name change process on the roll. Sorry just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has had this happen to them.

Oh no! I hope it all works out soon (I’m sure it will) but I would definitely be frustrated too!

Can you go to the courthouse and get a certified copy, we had to do that for our wedding, it is not mailed out so the Darling Husband had to pick them up and I had him get 2 copies just in case.

I feel your pain! The banks aren’t letting us cash our wedding checks without it, and I have been waiting for our to show up for a week! Luckily just got a call today from the City Clerk, it got returned to them by the post office (issue because it was in DH’s last name and we mailed it to my parents house in case it showed up before we were back from honeymoon) so hopefully Darling Husband can pick it up today!

Haha, glad you finally got yours (hopefully at least). It was definately a pain waiting, I checked the mail like everyday and nothing. I did go get the certified copies so I could change my name but we don’t have our original as it somehow got lost in the mail, which is kind of sad, all we have is the copies, and the “fake decorative” certificate. Oh well, now i’m just praying that my new social security card doesn’t get “lost” in the mail too, now that would be bad.

I was terrified of this, so since in Washington they’re done by county, I made my husband take ours to the clerk’s office the Monday after our wedding (we had a night flight out) so that I could take a copy with us on the honeymoon.
