I’m in Ottawa, getting married on August 31, 2008.

Momo-I don’t know about vendors being vampires here, but I have found it hard to find ones that aren’t uncreative, traditional bores!

Just got married in the Bahamas, but had our homecoming reception just outside of Ottawa, in Carleton Place.

Ottawa vendors definitely tend to be uncreative and traditional, I agree.

For budget brides, I recommend the Carleton Place Curling Club or Canoe Club for a small reception (100 – 150 people), Leatherworks Catering for reasonably priced, and good but not fancy food ($20/person or less)

Our photographer is amazing, and completely reasonably priced…from Renfrew. http://www.rustedribbon.com. Tell Tracy that the Knudson’s recommended them.

ooh – count me in here too.

We’re getting married Aug 15th at CedarHill GC. So far all of my vendors have been great. We’re about 2 months out now and here’s who we have booked:

Photography is Matt Wallace,

Rings are custom at Goldform,

Makeup is Bombshell Beauty (Kerry Price),

Bulk Roses through 123 Roses

Officient is Jon Martin, of the Anglican Dioscese in Ottawa

Dress was purchased at the Ottawa bridal fair from Dominique Levesque Bridal Salon

Shoes are still MIA.

I live in Ottawa, but my wedding is in London Ontario. I’d be happy to meet up with any Ottawa brides to chat through strategies, tips regarding planning in general (obviously some Ottawa vendors, like florists, don’t matter for me, but others, like shoes, do!)

Thanks for the recomendation OttawaBride. I will check them out.

I went to my local florist, Passiflora in Embrun, this week and they seemed pretty good, but I would like to see a few to compare.

What about your other vendors, dress, photgrapher, venue etc. Who are you going with?

I have mine but it’s fun to hear what other people are doing.

I went for Dominique Lévesque Bridal for my dress (the one on Carling in Ottawa, not the one in Gatineau).

Wedding Jewellers for his wedding band – great prices, and the owners gave us very good, personalized service… The ring manufacturer couldn’t get the ring right (even if it was their design!!) and we returned it about 3 times, and the lady was always very nice to us about it.

Ben Moss for my wedding rings – we first dealt with the one in the St-Laurent shopping center but had a bad experience with the staff so we returned my rings and bought the exact same one from a nicer lady at Ben Moss in the Carlingwood center.

His suit was at Moores on Bank/Laurier.

We had a Destination Wedding in the Dominican Republic. So no more vendors for us.  We booked our trip and wedding through Marlin Travel in Place d’Orleans. I’m a bit torn… We had EXCELLENT service and the agent was very, very efficient. But, she had an unprofessional way of talking about her other clients that made us feel iffy about it and I hope she didn’t talk about us this way. BUT, the work was good and we had visited many travel agencies before finding her and she was the only one we felt like we were in good hands.

We bought our bands at People’s in Bayshore.

I bought my dress at Sinder’s in Carleton Place (highly recommend!!!)

We’re having the ceremony at our church, and the reception at the Courtyard restaurant!
