I went with Shannon Ranger at onefinebeauty.com. She did a trial at my home and wedding makeup on-site at my parent’s house. The trial was $90 and the wedding makeup $100. She was punctual and great at capturing a “natural” look–which was my goal. We tried both traditional makeup and airbrush makeup and in the end, I used a combination of the two. I really liked that she offered a dewy finish via her airbrush makeup since airbrush can often look too matte and heavy. I would definitely recommend her. If anyone is looking for an amazing florist–on a budget, let me know, I have a great guy!

@Soon-to-be-wed:  I’d love to hear who used for flowers! We’re on a pretty tight budget for florals and would love a suggestion

@medbride:  Hi medbride,

We went with Dirk the Flower Man. He’s a retired Florist and did a great job for our wedding a couple of weeks ago. To keep the cost down, he suggested I pick up flowers at my local Loblaws or Costco ( If he were to order flowers the cost would be higher).  There are so many great colours available at the grocery stores it made it easier to go this route. He can offer suggestions with what might work best and fit your budget. He picked up all the flowers from my house and brought them to his home/shop to prepare for the day of the wedding. He also  brought the remnants that were left over to add to the vases already put out by our venue. This was a great way to tie in our colour theme. I also had him put together 4 manzanita-like arrangements (he used curly willow) and attached a few blooms to each arrangement. Everyone loved the arrangements, flowers and the colour theme. If you have more questions, just let me know. His number is 613-258-5408, [email protected].

@CherylOttawa:  I’ve booked her for my wedding in May 2014.  I haven’t met with her yet, but have heard nothing but amazing reviews, and her portfolio and picutres are stunning and the makeup is exactly what I’m looking for.  Expensive, but worth it!

Naz at Ottawa Glam was great!! And realy nice too. My bridesmaids and I were all very happy. She goes to wherever you’re getting ready! The only thing is that she didn’t write anything down at my trial so the trial was pretty pointless. In the end, she did a great job so it didn’t matter. I’m sure if you asked her, she would write down what she did.
